This school seems like it is perpetually in transition. There is tension between the locals who have lived here all their lives and those who moved here in the last 20 years. It has created issues on the Board and has shown itself in the school leadership. Several good leaders have left the district because of the politics and the school has suffered, especially in having strong teachers who care. It does possess VERY strong after-school programs and is a magnet school for animal science and farming. LOTS of AP classes which some of my children have benefitted. I would probably rate it as a 6, not as a 7 on the Great Schools scale. There are better schools nearby.

Great school. Private school education at a public school price.

This is a very good school. Small class sizes, good teachers, many clubs and sports teams. I have family who work in the school system and have a perspective from the inside, and the consensus is that Suffield is an exceptional school. Also, as a graduate myself, I can attest that I was prepared for college and beyond. I still cherish my memories from Suffield to this day.

Lets just start of by saying I have lived in Suffield all my life. All I have ever known was school systems in Suffield. Going into 8th grade and thinking high school is a year away was scary. Suffield High was very welcoming and knew what we all were going through. They have so much to offer from great teachers, the ag program, sports, teams and many more activities. I have made so many new friends by playing sports and managing teams. People who i never thought i would be friends with are some of my good friends today. Last year the Suffield High soccer team won the State Champs. Our education team is also one of the best, teachers here get students. Suffield has hired some new younger teachers that get what we are going through, as young adults. But the older teachers know what to do and how to do it correctly. All in all our whole staff is pretty great, I wouldn't have changed any of the teacher I have had over the years. Our town is every close with each other. We all grow up in a farm town and as much as we say we hate it, it is always said to leave in the end. Suffield High is a great choice for you child.

This school system has been a tremendous disappointment. Moved to Suffield seven years ago because of the great reviews of the school system. My child was beaten up several times, teachers simply turned their backs and looked the other way. One art teacher went so far as announcing to me that she shouldn't "get stuck with 504 kids" ~ because she didn't want to work with my kid, that has an ASD diagnosis. Without a doubt, the worst decision we've ever made.
