  I had thought the school was fine, especially since my son's kindergarten teacher did such an admirable job with a HUGE class of all-day kindergarteners (God bless her!) but I nevertheless felt like I was constantly hearing that he was being picked on or hit at school and he was falling in with a less-than-savory group of kids. By the time he got to first grade, I started hearing negative things about HIS behavior, too. When I would ask why on earth he would do the naughty things I was told he had done, he said other kids pressured him to. (And they were *bad* things--I was terrified!)I wondered if that was true or not, but I'm pretty sure it was because we moved to a more affluent neighborhood in a larger metropolitan area in another state and since then, I haven't heard one single negative report about his behavior from school. No complaints about bullying, either, and he's making good friends. There is much better academic support, too. I hadn't thought there would be a big difference in how much my child would thrive in different schools, given that I am college-educated and have always been careful to supplement with a lot of learning and reading at home, but I was so wrong! There is an almost night-and-day difference in his progress since switching schools mid-year--and switching mid-year isn't exactly supposed to be good for you. ...More Reviews
