I have moved several times since my son started school. This is BY FAR the worst school we have attended. You can forget about attending class field trips or spending time in your child's class because that is against school policy. My son always struggled at that school and the teacher recommended holding him back, although I was always reaching at trying to devise a plan to help him (I'm assuming they didn't want to deal with the extra work of an IEP). After several years we moved out of district and all my children's grades have drastically improved, and my struggling student has had straight a's all year. Your child will not be successful at this school unless you know the right people.

Teachers not as friendly or patient as you might expect from a pre-k teacher, based on my experience with other schools

My daughter is only in Pre-K right now at Staunton Elementary, but compared to 2 other schools (which I absolutely LOVED) that I have dealt with through my older children, I am not very impressed with this school at all. They are very disorganized not only with sending important papers home in a timely manner, but picking your child up from school at dismissal is a disaster also! I am not impressed with my daughter's pre-k teacher either. At parent teacher conference she talked to me like I was a child and needed direction parenting my child.. She is not very friendly and doesn't make it inviting for parents to help out on school functions/outings. Also, the parent involvement is atrocious! Very few of them want to help with needed materials in the classroom. Overall, unless you or your family have lived in Staunton district your whole life and are well known in the community.. I would not suggest attending this school.
