AHS is a great school, being a student there I have nothing but high regard for the school. The staff and students are great there. The teaching is above-Par, as the teachers are always happy to help with work. My sister has a learning difference and the school is currently helping out by listening to my Sister's I.E.P. even though it is not necessary to follow the demands of said I.E.P. The school Is very on top of stamping out misbehavior and making sure students are not endangering themselves or each other. There is a student government that works to provide supplies for recreational activities, while the parent association also works to improve the community as a whole by creating events for in-school, events out of school, and all of this to improve the AHS community, the only aspect of the school I am unable to comment on is the pricing, but as a student, I can assure that the price is worth it to send ones child to such a great place.

AHS was a wonderful place for our kiddo’s first four years as a student. We chose AHS because of its gifted programming, and we enjoyed the small class sizes and warm community feeling. As others have noted, everything changed with the arrival of a new head of school. We entered year 5 apprehensive about the new leader’s qualifications and demeanor, and we saw the commitment to best practices in gifted ed disappear. There were some remarkable and talented teachers, and we are grateful to have experienced AHS as it once was. Perhaps it can one day become again the unique, vibrant learning space we remember.

Excellent, energetic, and creative teachers. An advanced but not stressful academic environment. Culture of mutual support among the students.

We thoroughly enjoy seeing our daughter at Academy Hill School. Despite her young age, she continuously impresses us with the knowledge she brings home from school, her ability to problem solve, her maturity level, and so much more. I attribute a lot of that the the nourishing and enriching environment that AHS provides her.

We thought about Academy Hill for a while. When we visited we loved it, but we never set out thinking we would enroll our children in private school. Ultimately we made the decision to spend our money where our values are. We made the commitment to get them to and from school. We wanted an education for our children free from limits. We wanted them to learn as much as they could, not as much as the state mandates. What brought us to Academy Hill was the realization that our smart, kind, curious child was not meeting his potential in public school and we wanted that for him. Our only regret is that we did not start sooner.

Overall the educational experience our child received at AHS was top notch. It was admittedly better when we first began because there was a gifted enrichments expert on staff and strong administrative support in place. Over time that has all gone and now the languages are also being pared down.

We used to love AHS, but with the new direction the school has taken in removing gifted ed from their school it feels much more like a prep school.

Academy Hill has been exactly what my children need! At Academy Hill, the students are continually expected to perform better academically, and the teachers gently coax everyone to be at their strongest. The atmosphere is a great mix of nurturing and high expectations so that every student can reach his or her highest potential.

It depends on the way the head of the school treats you and which teacher you get. You may notice that the positive reviews on this page stopped in 2016. That's when the current head of school started.

We transitioned our daughter to AHS in sixth grade from public school. The teachers are outstanding and made her feel welcome from the very first day. She enjoys going to school and feels that each day is a new learning adventure. Overall it has been a tremendous experience.

My son is 9 and has been at AHS since kindergarten. The teachers are excellent. It has been easy to communicate with teachers and administrators and my son loves the school. Would recommend highly.

I would highly recommend this school for any parent looking for an advanced curriculum and caring environment for their motivated child. I have 3 children that have attended Academy Hill and they are all well prepared for their future successes.

My daughter has been a student at Academy Hill School for the past 6 years and we have had a wonderful experience. The student/teacher ratio, curriculum, and individual attention given to each student are above and beyond what you will encounter in other schools. I would highly recommend!
