Rochambeau Middle School is a top notch middle school in an excellent school district, Region 15. RMS (as well as GES and PHS) have excellent dedicated teachers who provide high quality curriculum in a caring environment. I was an educator in another district and I was always amazed at the rigor of the academics in this school district. The school has a very positive and welcoming atmosphere and is run by a highly caring and professional principal, Mr. Bernardi. I could not be more happy with the education our daughter received at RMS. She was extremely prepared for Pomperaug High School.

Rochambeau Middle School is an amazing school. I achieved straight A's even though I'm not that bright of a kid. When I had questions, the teachers would help me understand more easily. There is nothing needed for improvement in the school. My peers accepted me and no person was bullied. I suggest attending RMS: you, your child, or someone you know will definitely love the teachers and find what you learn very interesting.

I have NO IDEA why person posting her/his "evaluation" of RHS here on 08/15/11 wrote what she/he wrote. Completely biases, prejudiced and can we say even discriminatory? We already had two and now have the third child there (for all 6 - 8th grades) and two of them are now at Pomperaugh HS. We both have advanced degrees and have experience with public schools in various state (MD, TX, MI, OH, CA, etc.). Rochambeau is very solid, above average (in CT and certainly nationwide) MS with all important learning environment and attitudes apparent in the way the leadership and teachers, thus also students behave and approach issues related to academic and other aspects of the school's life. Significant + positive influence had Mr. A. Salutari, for years the RMS principal, w/o doubt one of the very best, demanding and effective principal we have seen in many schools nationwide. For us, sports programs at school are not that important but even in that department RMS does quite well. Safety and learning environments are outstanding. While the RMS (as well as Reg 15 district) are not at all diverse (only 1% per U.S. Census Bureau) ts schools, RMS even more so, are very good indeed.

This school is horrible. My kids start the entire school without me. There is barely any open house days. All of the time, there's bus drivers smoking outside at the end of school, in a wooded area right on school property. The teachers, they seem like they hate their students except for a few 8th grade teachers. Many fights broke out during the school year. I suggest moving away from this school.

Going to this school was a terrible experience. I am now entering 9th grade at Pomperaug High School. The kids there are immature and mean. You will be judged based on your family's income, race, looks, and popularity. 99% of the students at this school are upper class and white. There is a lot of bullying and people that try to make your life miserable. Most of the teachers are unhelpful and do not help you if you are struggling and falling behind. However there are a few exceptions, for example my 8th grade history teacher was nice and cared about his students. However this is a rare occurence. The classes are boring and a waste of time. The focus is doing well on CMT's and other state standarized tests to try to make it look like this is a good and prosperious school, when the students don't learn anything that will help them later on in high school and future careers. The disiplinary system is corrupt and unfair to the student. You will face consequences and fines for things you were blamed for without evidence or reasoning. The sports are decent considering the cross country team is undefeated. I strongly suggest going to a different school.

Amazing school! Strongest principal in Region 15. The vice principal is wonderful as well. They make a great team. It is a well oiled machine. Kids seem very considerate of one another. Teachers always greet you with a smile. The whole staff is just fantastic. They do the job they were hired to do. I can't say enough wonderful things about RMS. My child is happy there and eager to goto school everyday.
