We have had an excellent experience at Maltby. Our kids teacher is super engaged in our child’s education and emotional support. They principal communicates frequently, utilizing evidenced based education practices. We also like that the school is on the smaller size.

I like how small the school is the class size ratio. Both of my children attend this school and are both happy and have excelled academically. My kids have had wonderful teachers even through Covid. I do feel, however, it is important to introduce and have your presence known as a parent because the school is smaller. I have not had issues with communication but I made sure they know who I am.

Love the small school atmosphere; Maltby has both traditional and Montessori classes to select from. Almost every teacher gets an A from our family.

Our experience was positive. I think it is important as a parent to make sure your voice is heard and Maltby is responsive to any concerns and went out of their way to find customized approaches.

If you have a 5th grade student at this school you will want to talk with your children about any issues they are having in class!

Counselor not being available onsite puts students at a disadvantage. It is a disgrace that the Monroe School District and Maltby Elementary do not put a higher emphasis on mental health.

We did not have a positive experience at Maltby. There were issues with the school not communicating with us about what was happening both in terms of incidents among children and with our child's academics. Our child would come home and tell us what was going on and then we'd have to go to the school and request information. After two years in the school we had two major incidents along with a laundry list of smaller things that finally pushed us to transfer our child to a new district. We were sad to leave our community school as we wanted our child to be in school with our neighborhood kids however the school's inadequacy at addressing the major concerns we had in a meaningful way made it impossible for us to keep our child there and feel like their needs were being met.

My daughter has been attending Maltby since we moved here when she started 1st grade now she is in 5th, the quality of learning and nurturing she had been given has been excellent. It has enable her to really expand in her knowledge, skills and abilities to their best. The teachers and staff are always helpful, show true interest and caring for their students as if they were their own children. Maltby also offers a Montessori program that is an alternative way of learning and teaching which is neat and not many schools offer.

I really have some ups and downs with certain things or inncidents that have happened. I have ask for the couselor to see my child individually and was told that service is not available. I also do not like the discipline actions that have belittled my daughter,made her feel like an outsider seperated from the others might as well put a dunce hat on her... the office staff are great except for one thing and thats the gossip I witnessed.

I am impressed with the leadership of this school. She does an excellent job in responding to concerns and being open and approachable to parents and students alike. Her leadership is one the reasons my children are at this school. Office staff have always been competent, professionally and friendly. The small size of this school is nice. As a volunteer I have always felt truly appreciated and though the school does have a strong volunteer base it could use more. As far as teachers they range from amazing to adequate and a couple of teachers, for whatever reasons, have been moved on. Additionally this school has started a public Montessori program. How rare is that? It's wonderful for my children to have a choice between a traditional classroom and a Montessori classroom. Choice is one of the biggest pluses I can say about Monroe School District as a whole. All schools aren't perfect and a couple of caveats of this school are lack of diversity and it sometimes feels a bit clique. My children are doing well at this school. We have a waiver from another district to attend here and are very grateful for this school.

I feel the leaders don't do much to take actions against certain issues and problems that happen at the school. Office staff at times feel of gossip and small town bias. Don't appreciate parent volunteers sincerely only on the outside. I know that is why I switched schools and so many others as well.
