This is a multicultural and Title 1 school. The teachers are passionate and there is lots of support for behavior. The test scores are not fabulous, but that is largely due to the fact that there are many bilingual children. Their English has not caught up with the academics (which makes sense because learning a new language to speak fluently takes about 3 years but academic language takes 6-8 years). The climate is excellent!

Most teachers are good but other staff members are very rude.

This is my son's 2nd year at SES and he loves it! The teachers are wonderful and so far no homework, aside from reading nightly... which I think is so great because we need to foster a love of learning rather than cramming kids with homework. You can tell the teachers are there because they love to teach and they use a variety of ways to teach lessons that really help the kids to learn.

school is ok, but they definitely need another principal because the woman that is a principal right now is not able to be a leader and has no respect or social skills what so ever.... I had my daughter there for one year, and never again , and I would not recommend anyone to send their kids to that school..,,

I love this school! I have two children that attended. Ms. Powell is THE best kindergarten teacher! We had here two years in a row! She is willing to work with your child and keep you up to date. Mrs. Evans is a wonderful first grade teacher. We didn't always see eye to eye, but your child's best interests are what she is after! They also have the best office staff! No bad words for the school at all!

I have two children. One child went to Smyrna Elementary until moving into the middle school. One child is currently attending Smyrna Elementary. I have nothing bad to say about this school. This school is wonderful. I have seen how much these teachers really care for the children to succeed. The are very willing to keep you updated on your child. They will inform you if your child needs help in certain subjects. They let you know when they are doing better with their struggles. They send happy notes about how well they do in classes they excel in. I have had to use an I.E.P. for one of my children. These teachers really try to use and help children with special needs. I have seen this first hand. I could not see any reason someone should dislike this school.
