My family has had a great experience at Arroyo. I chose this school for several reasons. I was moving my children from a language immersion program in another city and wanted them to be close to our home, but still exposed to other languages. It has not disappointed me. My children are exposed to 4 different languages throughout the year in class and at the after school clubs that are provided. It is a small school and my children do not get lost in the crowd and are well supported by teachers and staff. Staff are quick to provide extra support when needed, whether it is academic or emotional.

I enrolled my child at this school from another school in Simi Valley which was more focused on test results and was high-pressure. Arroyo has been a great school with a lot individual help and attention to my child. I was wary only because of ratings but a lot of information in statistics can be incorrect. My child has been excelling and finding a lot of confidence in himself with great teachers and wonderful leadership. It is not about competition here-- it's about real learning.

This school is great and has a very friendly/family type of environment. I think the reason it appears that this school may not do well in some aspects are because there are issues with english as a second language which will greatly affect standardized testing scores/averages (obviously). All of the elementary schools in Simi use the exact same curriculum, and other schools have high performance because the high performing students (with high parent involvement) are concentrated at those schools. I pulled my child out of one of Simi's fundamental schools to come to Arroyo, and my child has been excelling ever since.

This school has major bullying problems and has been going on for the past 3 years. The past principal and the new one do nothing about it. My daughter has experienced it and I have friends that have left the school because of this ongoing issue. The district does nothing about it either. You will here great things from parents, but those are the ones that do not experience the non addressed issue. Very sad. Those students that bully should be suspended from school or some course of action.

Arroyo has exceeded my expectations in a number of areas. The teachers communicate with the parents frequently; there are no surprises by report card time. My child has excelled in all academic areas thanks to his wonderful teachers. Every teacher he has had at Arroyo has been flexible, patient and effective in their teaching methods. The school is well maintained and there are several activities throughout the year for all grades. The school has also improved their security measures in the last year. When I drop my child off in the morning I have confidence he is safe.

Very unhappy with this school. Not enough yard duty's. The school campus is not secure enough for our children. Any one could walk onto the campus at any point and time. I wish they would make some serious changes to operations at this school.
