We’ve attended another school in the district where they lacked communication between staff and parents but not here. Don’t judge this school by its location, the teachers and students seem genuinely happy to show up every day and we’ve not had any issues with safety concerns. I’ve observed while attending “crafts with parents” and have seen the teachers taking the time to address each student if concerns and compliment their hard work. Some have been there for 15+ years but still enjoy the growth they help their students achieve. Both of my kids have said they’ve preferred this school over the other and I’d have to agree!

Carmichael is an excellent school. We love that the boys and girls club operates on site. The teachers have been great for our two kids with extremely different needs.

The office is unable to effictively communicate with themselves, students, or parents/guardians. They are completely overwhelmed and unable to properly run a school. In addition to that, my child and I were FORCED by the principal, counselor, and teacher, to discuss his private MEDICAL situation while standing in front of other parents and students at the pick up gate, as they tried to dupe me into signing him up for in-school Behavioral Health in order to get a Special Ed evaluation. The principal didn't introduce herself to me so I had no idea who she was as she straight SCOFFED that he had anything else but a behavioral health problem, eventhough they've already been notified he is medically fragile with Toxic Encephalopathy, they have PROOF from his Toxicologist already in his file, and they have been told psych medication is severely contraindicated due to hypertoxicity in his brain and body. He already has a brain specialist working with a team overseeing his conditions but they think they know better after only five days of school. I asked the counselor if I could read over everything and call her the next day to discuss and ask questions, and she said yes. So I called her the next day, and immediately she was abrupt, condescending, and rude- adamant she only had 5 minutes for me. I asked her several times to make an appointment instead, and she rudly refused, unprofessionally insisting I ask all my very serious questions only within the five minutes she was giving me. I read the paper I was being bullied to sign. They wanted me to sign over mental health decision-making to their in-school behavioral health team leaving me with only the option of providing input on his behavioral plan and when I insisted she clarify if this was part of the MET process she got angry and defensive, but eventually admitted it was not. They have been told repeatedly that his prognosis is FULL RECOVERY and that psych meds are severely contraindicated due to hypertoxicity. The specialists we already have actually KNOW him and our situation over the span of 3+ years but the completely overwhelmed, arrogant, and reckless staff at Carmichael think they know everything. They treat parents like insubordinate children to be punished when they are challenged, even when confronted with verifiable facts. The principal and her staff gaslight parents instead of admitting and fixing their wrongs, and they are unethically medicating children to make their job easier.

Horrible. I have never worked at a school in which the principal treated many of the teachers like children who need to be chastised and whipped into shape. This principal is so bad that some of the staff called her Cruella behind her back. The only people left at this school are those trying to hang on until retirement and her nauseating sycophants who tell her only what she wants to hear.

I truly Love the school, and the teachers are really awesome. I’ve been greeted with friendly smiles and concerns are handled right away. My Grand daughter has truly showed happiness and Loves her teacher so much!! Ms. Vick! Thanks from a very apply Grand mom Dotti Thompson

Everyone is very helpful and willing to go the extra mile to help my child. There are a lot of extra-curricular opportunities and events. My student has really grown a lot this year. I'm sad that we will be moving to another town soon.

My son is 4 years old & he started going to preschool here in Carmichael when he turned 3. He's in the peer program (not special ed program). Even though he's advance, he doesn't get bored or loose interest because his teachers Ms. Bonnie & Ms. Annie provide something new to learn for the kids. Both the special ed program kids & the peer program kids have their own goal to achieve in learning, and the teachers together with special therapist (speech & occupational therapist) help one another in providing a high quality of education to the kids even if it is only 2 hrs a day. The time constraint is not issue because the teachers & staff are the best...
