Chandler is a hidden gem! It's a small school which provides a real community feel, you end up knowing most parents and kids and the parents are really involved which reflects on their kids behavior and desire to succeed. Kids and parents all form a friendship and bond together which makes them want to go to school even more. The teachers are excellent, most of them have been with the school for a long time. They are dedicated and the kids love them all. The principal is amazing, he has a great sense of humor and the kids enjoy him. He brings in various mobile enrichment programs and takes them on school-wide field trips. The PTA consists of very dedicated parents who put together various activities, events and family nights for all to enjoy throughout the year. I think it speaks volumes when you see kids tugging their parents to school instead of the other way around.

This is our 4th year at Chandler & we love it. The teachers are excellent - I have found them all to be very caring and genuinely concerned with our kids academic and emotional well being. We got a new principal, Mr. Skoll, at the start of the pandemic and he has also been amazing. He great at making himself available to parents if they have a concern or a question and he is a problem solver (which I totally appreciate as a parent). We couldn't be happier at Chandler.

This is our third year at Chandler and all of our son’s teachers have been excellent. Excited for our daughter to start kindergarten next year. Because of the small size, this school has a great community feel. Parent involvement has steadily improved throughout the the three years we’ve been here as well.

We are with this school third years and couldn't be more happier! This school feels like a private school, you know a lot of parents who always involved, staff running around and they know a lot of kids by names. The principal is amazing! She is dealing with every bulling situation herself involve staff on the yard to keep an eye on the situation. Always happy to help at any business in school, she encourage student to be kind and better with tons of motivation programs.PTA is something here, every single year they add new staff, find new sponsors, make tons of event, add new classes. Kids are happy here, so far what I see, I never had a problem with my son that he would want go to school! Love it in all different ways!

My daughter went to Chandler from 2nd through 5th grade and loved it! We were at Kester for K-1st but that school has a huge student body. You get lost in it. Chandler is less than half the number of students and there is much more of a community and the principal is AMAZING!

Mrs. Miller is an amazing teacher that blends social emotional learning with academics. She engages students in Common Core thinking and my son loves learning. We hope that his teachers in the upcoming years will be just as understanding of the balance between youth development and maintaining high expectations for all children while supporting them with rigorous and diverse lessons. My 1st grader writes reflectively, completes thinking maps to help develop his paragraphs, uses multiple modalities to demonstrate his understanding, consistently works on improving his ELA writing and reading comprehension and absolutely loves science, computer science, and math. I am a happy mommy reviewing his student work. And, when I had concerns, she returned my calls in a timely manner. Kuddos to an awesome LAUSD teacher.

The school does not have staff that are engaged in the development of the children socially nor educationally. The principal is overwhelmed and seemingly ill equipped to direct the staff in a way that promotes them to make conscious decisions on behalf of the families that are entrusting them with their loved ones. At this school money talks and while our family is in no way lacking in this area, we do not want to feel that this is the difference in our child getting the nurturing and development needed to become a responsible human being in society. Teachers are selected on their willingness to "take the job" and not their ability.

Chandler Learning Academy is a wonderful neighborhood school. We own a home around the corner from the school and decided to try our local school for kindergarten and now our son is finishing first grade and our daughter can't wait to start kindergarten. The school has a great community feel and we have become good friends with many neighborhood families. Chandler is a California Distinguished School and a charter school. Under Mrs. McIntire's leadership, Chandler has grown into a great school. The teachers are very well qualified, nurturing, accessible and get along with each other and the principal. The after school offerings are top-notch and include art, drama, music, cooking, karate, sports, Spanish and STEM robotics. The spring musical this year is "The Wizard of Oz". The PTA is very involved and receptive to new ideas. The school also has a strong GATE program for gifted students and effectively differentiates learning for all students. My son is very happy at his school and proud to be a Chandler Cheetah.

Disenfranchised, indifferent teachers and administrators. Too many kids per class with one teacher (impossibly) struggling to meet the needs of each student. Special education is abysmal.

You wouldn't know it from the street view but once you enter the campus it's very warm and inviting. The teachers truly care about the students well-being and propel them academically. My student is in TK and we have Ms Meza as a teacher. We love her she is an amazing teacher. The principal is always on site and you can find her anytime walking around campus and interacting with people this school also has many events so the school spirit is very high. PTA is very involved and that makes all the difference . My family and I are really glad we found this hidden gem .

The principal, teachers and PTA are really dedicated to create a great learning experience for all students. My son has made many great neighborhood friends, enjoys going to school and is doing very well academically. The E3 after school program, which is new this year, is amazing. The students have different enrichment classes every day, complete their homework and have a lot of fun playing outside. There is also a beautiful vegetable garden in the center of the school where the different grades learn how to garden from a Farmer Educator every week.

Although the teachers are quite nice and the general atmosphere of the school is pleasant, the primary thing my child - a first grader - has learned is to hate school. There is a review here stating that the amount of homework given to first graders is "just right." I suspect that a parent didn't write that review, but rather a school employee. My son, works on his first grade homework for roughly three hours (plus the 20 min reading) every day; and I should add that my son isn't the only one. I've talked to many other parents, and they say the same thing. Yes, the homework can be done in 20 minutes, if the parent does it. There are also extra assignments that demand the children design and construct dioramas and games. The current one reads like a job description for someone who works at Parker Brothers. As far as I know, art is not something taught during regular instruction, and again, unless these assignments are turned in with simple stick figures (and they are not), they are again being completed by parents. The amount of work is overload. My son and several other kids complain that they HATE going to school because of it. I suspect that the school officials like to cite these student accomplishments (done by parents) in an effort to make their schools look good, but wouldn't it be better to engage the children and create a learning environment that they find enjoyable?

The school has multiple entrances and exits. I sent a friend to pick up my daughter after school, when I worked late. I instructed him to find her at YMCA daycare. He went there and she was not in attendance. He found her sitting alone at a table in the middle of the school yard. How did the counsellors not find her? He left with no adult interaction. So anyone could have just stolen my child that day?! We have since enrolled her in private school. Chandler Elementary has gone from an 8 to a 7 in the last three years. There has been steady decline in its test scores and incredible inflation in the classroom size. Teachers are unable to care for 30-35 students at once. I would research the safety of my child before considering this school.
