Our son is a sophomore at Blanchet. He loves his school and has a strong sense of belonging. He engages with clubs, sports, and activities offered at the school. He reports that despite 3 honors classes freshman year he didn't feel that challenged academically during that year. It may be thanks to his strong middle school experience. It's been more effort to maintain his GPA sophomore year with 2 AP and one UWHS science. He's striving for more AP classes junior year. Unfortunately, he was bullied over a period of time in one of his classes this fall. While we were deeply disappointed by the minimal repercussions for the bully, the behavior has completely stopped with the interventions the Dean's office implemented. Not sure if we have the Dean's office or the student's family to thank. All in all, we've been consistently impressed by the educators and staff. We've also witnessed a lot of great behavior (when no one is watching) of students - like cheering on team mates in sports, greeting each other, etc.

I've had one child graduate and one child currently at Blanchet. The overall experience has been excellent. Our college student had great college choices and was well prepared for this next step. At Blanchet you do get a true high school experience without a lot of the cliques or drama you hear about at alternate private schools and without many of the distractions and challenges we've heard from friends at local public schools. It is a college prep high school, so students need to be prepared for this academically. It would be nice if there was more diversity, both race and socio-economic but Blanchet primarily pulls from the demographic of N. Seattle where it is located. It would be nice if more students from outside this area applied as their both are buses available for those outside of N. Seattle and Blanchet also offers very good financial aid support. In summary, Blanchet was definitely the right choice for our kids. The teachers were great and impactful both as teachers and mentors. The kids do really seem to like each other and have fun.

BBHS is a great school. Our kids are really happy there. It provides a really nice balance of fun, strong academics, learning resource and educating the whole child. It seems very inclusive to me as a parent and two my son and daughter, although of course, individual kids may have specific experiences. Overall a really nice community and college prep school.

My son is now a Junior and we started during Covid times. The school handled this so well and did everything they could to keep the kids excited (and safe). BBHS is inclusive and there is something for everyone from sports to clubs to Drama. The staff is incredible and there are a lot of young teachers that understand what it's like to be a HS student. The staff seems happy to be there and supportive of the kids. They offer financial aid to everyone if needed. The campus always has a great energy about it and when you are there it seems more than half the kids are wearing school logo gear which is always a good sign that they love it there. I highly recommend this school and can't say enough about how great of an experience it has been for all of us.

Socially the school is a mess, too by many cliques. They sell it as an inclusive community but it is far from that. Academics it is very good but if you want a well balanced experience stay away

I had 2 kids attend Bishop Blanchet and have had a good experience with both. My oldest son was an average student and has had success in college (he even tutored peers in his weaker subjects). My younger son is a good student that needs to be challenged. He was able to take AP and honors classes that gave him the challenge he needed. Overall, we had a great experience. The teachers and administration work hard and care about the kids. I feel this school helped both kids grow into confident students and responsible members of the community.

Poor, and far too focused on religious conversion. Needs more emphasis on effective education, not athletics and religion.

great. My son has thrived at this school. It's a very caring community. Balanced approach between rigorous coursework and extra curricular activities.

Overall I think that this is a great high school, especially in terms of college preparation. As a freshman in college I find myself much better prepared for assignments than my peers, especially writing assignments which were my weakest subject before attending Blanchet. The teachers are great and truly seemed to care about every students success. The administration is inconsistent regarding punishments and at times appears to be somewhat disorganized. The student body is very open, with very few cliques and very little bullying. Overall I would recommend this school.

While most aspects of the school are very good, the administration is a blight on its otherwise good reputation. Shelia Kris has expelled 15 students without any kind of investigation. She is like a mad dog driven by her own ego.

I'm not sure what's happened to Blanchet, but it's now a school with such weak leadership that bullying has become a prevalent behavior among the student body. The school administration claim they care, but no one does anything about it, and the students know it. You don't dare to be different, otherwise you'll be picked on and made fun of. A lot of kids have left the school because of the bullying. There are a lot of great teachers, but they are powerless to do anything.

A safe environment for your teenager to learn and play sports. The curriculum is well above that of public schooling and deffinitely helps once said teen continues to college or whatever their choices are in life this school will teach them to be better people. You have your partiers and different groups like most schools but there's a zero tolerance policy which keeps the place safer. Great sports program. Sports athletes need to keep a certain grade point average to play which keeps them not only focused on sports but schooling also. So if I had a kid I'd send them to where I went and be happy with the fact they're getting a great education and if they're into sports then this is the place to go. especially cross country and track long distance.

I don't understand all the one-star ratings. So far BBHS has been absolutely fantastic. When I was a freshman the transition from Middle School to High School was as smooth as possible, and after a week I felt like I belonged. The teachers really care about you and want you to succeed. They provide you with all the resources you need to be a well-rounded individual. The extra-curricular activities are second-to-none, and I love all the choices for electives. I have made so many good friends, and I have nothing bad to say about this school.

Very unimpressed. I have two children attending at present. The teachers are unyielding and dogmatic in their approach to assignments and overall academics. Considering the tuition costs and the further demands of each family to contribute either financially or through service, I would expect much more from such an investment. Your child will be far better off going to UPrep or one of many vastly better private schools.

Bishop Blanchet is corrupt institution in which the students are constantly brainwashed/forced with their Catholic ideals which does not provide an environment for the student to explore different religious options. How can someone become the buddhist monk or jewish rabbi they want to be if their isnt any encouragement to explore different religious opportunities? If you want your child to have a chance in this world, then Blanchet is not fit for you.
