Alcuin School purposefully operates in a small, family-oriented setting that provides a happy first school experience and important societal values. Students are given the opportunity to learn math, reading, science, and to progress at an individual pace. The school fosters independence and personal responsibility and the children really do learn to be responsible for putting things away and to treat others with respect. Personal hygiene and safety are also emphasized. Other activities include very creative art, music/singing, and drama projects, and these are coupled with creative and educational field trips. Parental involvement is encouraged. Chris Williams is a highly experienced and professional teacher. She is also highly altruistic when it comes to her kids and works very hard to accommodate the needs of individual students and families. She is very environmentally conscious and strives to make the world a better place. Our daughter has just graduated after three years at Alcuin School. She just loves Chris Williams and is very well prepared socially and academically to go on to Kindergarten.

I have a daughter now entering second grade who attended two years of Alcuin preschool and am now excited to be sending my little boy there! It is a wonderful school. The teacher is an expert at early child development, and knows how to nurture kids through the preschool years. She really 'gets' kids and does an amazing job of engaging them with fun group activities. Also, Alcuin's small size means that all the kids get individualized attention and instruction. The preschool experience sets the stage for how kids learn to interact with classmates and teachers and how they 'learn to learn'. I credit Alcuin with the success my daughter is now experiencing with both the social and academic aspects of schooling. I feel lucky to be able to send my son to Alcuin this year.
