Laguna is Scottsdale's BEST kept secret! It's an A++++ STEAM School off of Shea and Via Linda. All four of our kids went to Laguna and loved it! It was a loving, caring, and wonderful place for our family. There is something for everyone there. All sorts of clubs and rigorous academics. Our kids were in the GIFTED Program and thrived! Their teachers, staff, and admin care for all the students as if they were their own. Everyone is family there! I wish we had a fifth child so we could stay there. I can't say enough good things about Laguna. If you're new to Scottsdale or haven't been to Laguna, I highly recommend you schedule a tour and check them out. They are AMAZING! And now, they have uniforms. They look so sharp! (That would have made our mornings so much easier!) Laguna is snuggled in the middle of a beautiful neighborhood - safe and cozy. It's a MUST SEE school.

We’ve been at Laguna, in special education for a few years now. Our experience has been the best. All of the specials teachers are friendly, approachable, super communicative, and enthusiastic. Above all and most importantly to us (echoing the words of other parents leaving their reviews here), they genuinely, truly love the kids. When I met the now principal, she knew exactly who my child was and the progress she was making. That speaks volumes to the genuine care and love she has for the kids and the culture she’s creating at the school. It’s palpable in the atmosphere and I know our kids feel that everyday. We are so thankful!

My children have attended elementary schools in 4 different states. Laguna is definitely our favorite! We choose Laguna because of their makerspace. The teachers are so kind and caring. They treat the students as if they are their own children. The principal is amazing. She knows every student and family. Laguna is a wonderful community that feels like home.

We have been at Laguna for 3 years now and it’s been the best experience. Teachers, admin, families care so much. My kids love it and are building great relationships and are surrounded by the best human beings. So grateful for Laguna.

It’s our fourth year at Laguna and it would take me forty pages to tell you everything we love about this school. We started our twins academic journey at nearby elementary school and moved over to Laguna. It was best (happenstance) decision we ever made. From the incredible, committed, hardworking, and loving teachers to the professional, intelligent, and compassionate leadership, I can’t say enough about the well rounded, well intentioned staff. Our children are loved. I chose my words carefully. They don’t just “feel” loved—they are. Laguna is also a STEAM school with a beautiful makerspace that has a passionate, dynamic teacher at the helm. The school puts a serious emphasis on project-based learning but never leaves the “A” out of STEAM. Arts are just as important here as STEM. Two school plays a year emphasize the focus on a robust arts curriculum. The more I write, the more I have to say, but I’ll leave it at this. Laguna is family. From the fair, equitable administration to the very welcoming and amazingly active PTO, Laguna’s community works at a team to ensure that the school is student focused and a whole lot of fun!!!

Laguna has been such a blessing to my child and to me as a parent. The school and staff are so welcoming and loving. Majority of the teachers have been there long term and truly excel at what they do. I love that parents are welcome and involved on campus - it takes a village. Not only does my son get an amazing education, he is encouraged to learn through STEAM and taught to think outside of the box. Our family enjoys the extra fun things the kids get to participate in as well as the families. If you want a top notch education for your child along with a strong community and family culture…Laguna is the place!

I have had my two children enrolled at Laguna only for this school year but I will not allow them to return in the Fall. There is way too much silliness and play and not enough learning. My fifth grader knew more when he was in fourth grade at his other school than he knows now. Again, the teachers seem to be more concerned with what silly games they can play, allow students to bring their electronics from home to supposedly use them to search for academic-related topics, but they play games on them instead.Enough of this clowning around. Transferring them to Basis where learning is apparent!

I absolutely love Laguna Elementary. We have been a Laguna family for 6 years now, with my oldest now in 4th (starting in PreK) and my middle is in kinder (starting in the 3s). I love how friendly the staff is, how awesome teachers are, and how much my kids feel loved at school. Mrs. Kelly, the assistant principal, is so kind and fun - only amazing things to say about her! Ms. Alyse, the school psychologist has been so helpful to my oldest when she is struggling. The teachers collaborate as a grade level and support switches to prepare my oldest for middle school, and I have never been happier with a school! Last school year was a bit rough with administration, but we rode the wave and this year is much better. You get emails and lots of communication from admin and teachers, and there is always a fun event going on! We love being Laguna Eagles!!!

I wish Zero stars was an option. For the most part, the interactions with the teachers were phenomenal, it's the administration and the lack of leadership from the top that is severely inadequate! The principal is the most unfriendly, horrific person I have ever had to deal with. I pulled my children from this school and would advise staying away. Your children's future is too important to leave in the hands of this unprofessional administration!

Not a happy camper when it comes to this school and the way protocol and rules are enforced. My children have been enrolled here since August of 2022 but after this school year, we will not be returning. The curriculum (my children are in 2nd and 3rd grade) is ok if it was taught to help the students learn but it is not. My son is quite shy so will not seek help from the teacher if he does not understand a teaching strategy. He tells me that other students will raise their hands and say they do not understand, but the teacher replies well, we have to move on so have your parents help you with the homework.I do not approve with the lack of supervision and happenings on the school ground. So much bullying takes place. Students are allowed to wear their baseball caps , stocking caps, etc in class all day if they so choose! Gum is allowed to be chewed in class as long as no bubbles are blown. What sort of ruling is that?Teachers seem to be more interested in gossiping in the hallways and goofing around than getting down to educating!I understand Laguna used to be a great school - no more.

We moved from WA state to Laguna Elementary, Scottsdale, Jan 2022. I was amazed at how good this elementary school is. The curriculum is great. I actually know what my son is supposed to be learning. If my son struggles on something, they help him understand it the next day! He is so well-supported. He was very behind given his WA school was closed for over a year from the pandemic. They arranged extra help to catch him up! Very professional, dedicated staff. Thank you Dr. Brooks, Mrs. Kelly, and Ms. Chilcher!

Laguna is an amazing school, I have two kids that attend and we love it. One of my kids is in special education at Laguna and I cannot speak highly enough about the collaboration between teachers and us as parents. The school community at Laguna is more like family than just a school.

The leadership is exceptional - very devoted to providing a superior learning experience for each child and the support every family needs

I am blessed to say I am on my last of five children at Laguna. My youngest son is in 4th grade and my family has been at Laguna for almost 20 years. It is and has been the perfect community school on so many levels. Many of the teachers my 23 year old daughter was lucky enough to have also taught my youngest son. The teaching core is amazing and the turnover is minimal. As a PTO Board Member as well, I can say that every teacher and staff member work hard to make Laguna feel like "home". Teachers not only participate in community and fund raising activities, they become the focal point of them. They show up, participate and make both parents and students feel welcome. Academically, Laguna provides an amazing education for all levels of students. Having had several children in the gifted programs and one in the LRC program, it's easy to see how important it is to Laguna teachers to help all students reach their full potential. In addition, there is a cohesiveness between teachers, specialists and administrators that makes it easy for students to focus on learning regardless of their academic levels. The past 20 years have been amazing and fun! I credit Laguna for making it so easy for my kids to get up in the morning, excited for school, knowing it's a great place and a safe place to learn! And lastly, with Covid, so many teachers and administrators have worked incredibly hard to make the online and in person learning process easy to navigate and stimulating for the students. I would recommend Laguna Elementary School to anyone who wants to learn from incredible teachers and be part of an amazing community!

I can’t say enough good things about Laguna. I have a first grader and a pre k student. Every teacher has been amazing. Mrs Williams, our principal is exceptional. We have two kids at Laguna and my third can’t wait to join them! We really love the community feel of the school, and the fact that their friends are nearby and often participate in sports, etc with them. The teachers and admin have been great, are easily accessible, quick to respond to questions, and (pre-covid) offers a lot of parental involvement so you can actually be a part of what is going on in school! The PTO does a great job of setting up events for this as well. My two children are very different learners, and both have been supported - one being pushed into gifted classes, the other being offered extra help. I love that Laguna supports the whole child, and my kids are happy to go to school each day!

Laguna is such a wonderful school! We have been at the school since 2014 and have had the best experience. The teachers and staff genuinely care about the students. We also love the Laguna community. Everyone is so welcoming and we have built lifelong friendships.

I have had four children pass through Laguna over the last fifteen years, and continue to be impressed by its capacity to embrace ongoing changes to curriculum and technology. The faculty and staff have always been receptive and eager to work with both students and parents to create a positive learning environment. Our children have been well prepared to enter middle school and beyond and we are very happy we chose Laguna.
