I am a Teacher’s Assistant at Centennial Elementary here in Scio. Our Principal Kim Roth over the past years has helped to build a climate that encourages learning and growth. As an employee I feel respected for the work that I do in helping our students throughout the day. I feel that the work that I do is valued because of the support that I get from our staff, our families, and our community. We adopted a new reading curriculum last year as well as putting in place “All Student Reading and Writing Groups”, which has proved to be very successful. This year a new Math curriculum has been adopted. The administration and staff are focused on children’s emotional and physical well being as well as their academic growth. All in all, Centennial is a wonderful place to be and I highly recommend it!

We have been very pleased with our experience at this school. We have had a child in grade school for the past 5 years and every year things just keep getting better. The staff is very experienced and has worked hard to make our children feel valued. our oldest has an IEP and we have never had problems with accommodation, on the contrary he has improved so much over the years that we have passed on relocations for work to keep our kids here. They also welcome parent volunteers for those parents that want to stay involved.

I have found the teachers and staff to go above what is required for their kids. Some teachers offer after school math help, breakfast clubs, or even Spanish club! All on their own time and dime. However, the last two principals have not supported their awesome staff. Unfortunately, many parents are noticing their favorite teachers and staff leaving, or being forced out with almost bully like tactics. It seems like almost no one is left! Plus, the superintendent has a surplus budget but it is being spent on property around town, not on books, computers, or learning tools for Centennial's children. A new team building administration would really bring this school, and it's children, the environment and tools it needs to succeed! Go hawks!

This school is filled with great teachers who are passionate about giving their kids every possible opportunity to learn. We have some weak spots in their test scores, but we're working hard to support those areas and help every child succeed.

I love this school, I have a child with special needs and a mild side. The staff has jumped thru hoops to make sure that my child is cared for and getting the best education possible. I am looking to buy a house but am limmited to Scio...ONLY because of the school.
