I have never experienced the luxury of the a school such as this one. The teachers put more investment into each and every child to an extent I have never seen. Having two kids and moved a few times in only the four years of my kids lives, I have seen: Daycare's that declare they have agendas that seem fitting and appropriate. Early Childhood centers that claim they are giving my children exactly what they need. Chain Daycares that have excellent reviews... I thought I saw it all until my child was accepted into Rio Grande. I was blown away at what this school offered. The teachers kept me in touch with every small accomplishment and helped with the struggles. There was no detail left unsaid. I assumed all early childhood places declared promises that would never be met - I was very wrong! I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the teachers, the administration and entire school was just as invested in my child as I was.I can say with full confidence that this is the most solid foundation one could ever get for their child. My child wants to go to school every day - and now easily lets me start my day with a happy heart.

Rio Grande School offers a challenging academic curriculum within a nurturing, community oriented environment. The students and families are known so RGS delivers on a personalized educational experience. We have been parents of RGS students since 2007 and could not imagine our kids going anywhere else. We believe in the quality of education provided and have seen those results with our oldest child as she goes through middle school. She was extremely well prepared for an academically rigorous program and had the balance of social-emotional skills to navigate a new school and student body. RGS is a Santa Fe gem. All families should take the time to visit the school, meet the faculty and observe the students. It's an educational experience our family recommends highly.

RGS is an asset to the Santa Fe community. As a lifelong educator, I can appreciate the dedicated, highly competent and caring faculty and administrative staff, the vision and commitment of RGS's board of trustees, and the joy and appropriate challenge that permeates the school experience for the children. With all the concerns we are hearing these days about the quality of education in this state, and especially the need for a good start beginning with early childhood programming, RGS may be the best "gift" parents can give their children.

The curriculum and faculty are fantastic, but the community and the feel at the school are priceless. It is nice to drop your kids off at a school in which they feel welcomed and valued!

Rio Grande is not only the top academic school in Santa Fe, but its focus on the social-emotional development of each child and the rich extracurricular activities is amazing. Their focus 'whole child' and helping each child develop to their fullest potential are important to me as a parent.

We have had both our kids at RGS from the time they were 3 1/2. The school is incredibly personal and nurturing to each students individual strengths and also areas where they need support. The teachers and staff know our kids personally and take the time to really understand them. The core teaching is outstanding but there are also so many additional opportunities that RGS makes available to our children with after school programs, sports, and summer camp. On top of all that the community is welcoming and supportive. We and our kids have always felt welcomed and appreciated even if we don't always choose to get involved in everything or spend that much time with people outside the interaction with our kids.

Rio Grande School is the only ISAS accredited pre-k and elementary school in Santa Fe. We have been so impressed by the learning experiences our boys have received at the school, including 2 teachers per class; mentor programs with older students; art, Spanish, theater, experiential education, physical education, science, music, and top-notch academics in a sweet, supportive setting. The campus is beautiful, and the students spend lots of time outside and in the surrounding open spaces. We've been so impressed and would highly recommend this school to others wanting the very best elementary education for their children. Rio Grande School is a great community too -- very inclusive and supportive and all around a wonderful learning environment.

Rio Grande is a fantastic and supportive learning environment for chidren. The school offers a broad academic curriculum and has a wide variety of extracurricular activities designed to nurture a chid's imagination and desire to learn. The teachers and administration are top notch are completely dedicated to the mission. The parent community is close knit and extremely supportive. This school is second to none!

Rio Grande School is an outstanding school in the Santa Fe community. A smaller school with 150 students, my children learn in an environment where the teacher ratio is 1:7, not including the 11 specialists that also support the students. My children learn excellent core academics, but also drama, art, music, Spanish, technology, experiential education and have P.E. several times per week. The faculty and staff are incredible, with the majority having Master Degrees, and are dedicated to the children. If any problems arise, teachers and staff are very communicative with the parents. The parent community is very welcoming with ample opportunities to get involved through volunteering and community outreach. My children and I are very happy at Rio Grande School!

Terrible school!. The headmaster is influenced by a select group of parents who give large sums of money and tell him exactly what to do. They have had turnover in the last several years and the quality of education has diminished. We were at the school for several years and finally made a choice to move our children elsewhere. The school has several fund raising events throughout the year and it was quite surprising to us what happened at those after dark parties. I wish the "new " headmaster lots of luck and hopes he puts the children before the board. However, sadly, he will not be able to have an original idea or put forth any real initiative and has been set up for failure much like his predecessors.

We loved this school when we first arrived. The younger grades have loving teachers, however in recent years the leadership has declined. Too many headmasters in a few years so we chose to go elsewhere. For a private school also you would think kids would be ahead of the children academically but they are not. A few of the great teachers have left, and many parents are now choosing local public schools over RGS. Too much focus on fundraising also.

This is an excellent school which serves 160 kids from age 3 to grade 6. It features small classes, and two teachers in every classroom and "specials" which ranged from science to PE to fine arts to drama. We have 3 kids at the school and have found the faculty to be uniformly outstanding. School has become much more diverse recently. Financial aid is very generous. My kids are eager to get to school and disappointed when there are snow days.
