Fantastic school. Great sense of community and parent involvement. Teachers who care a lot. My kids are thriving at MV.

This has been a wonderful school for my 2 children. We moved during Covid and started online. Even that transition was handled well. We have not had a single bad experience with a teacher & find ourselves each year saying “well whoever they get we can’t really go wrong”. I have one child with social challenges & whereas they don’t qualify for services, the support staff has made all efforts to still work with me on creating additional programs and outlets of skill development. The PTA is generous in their contributions. They are not able to hire support staff as one other commenter complained about. They did contribute $1000 per classroom last year for the teachers & aides to choose items that would benefit their classrooms including all special support. They also created a fully ADA garden for inclusivity. Overall I feel the school makes a concerted effort towards supporting all students in their education as well as social growth.

The academic standards at this school are deeply concerning unless families can afford private tutoring. Many teachers lack proper qualifications and seem disinterested in supporting students who need additional help. Instead of hiring skilled educators, the administration settles for babysitters.Despite the PTA's sizable funds from the affluent neighborhood, resources are misallocated on flashy tech upgrades, replacing serviceable playground equipment, and cosmetic projects like painting handball courts. Funding is not directed towards enhancing learning resources or supporting struggling students. Moreover, there is a glaring lack of focus on developing critical social-emotional skills. Misbehavior is dealt with through blanket punishments like revoking access to shared equipment instead of fostering accountability. The principal prioritizes the school's superficial appearance over fostering an environment conducive to student well-being and growth. This institution fails to provide an adequate learning environment unless supplemented by outside tutors at a significant personal cost. Students' interests, especially those needing extra academic or developmental support, take a back seat to misguided spending and maintaining appearances for affluent families.

From the teachers to the staff to the community of parents who contribute to school activities, we couldn’t imagine a better “complete picture” than Mountain View. We are so appreciative of our kids’ education, and are only bummed that they’ll have to move on to another school after 6th grade!

Excellent, I have been at Mountain View for 11 years and my kids and I love the school and staff! I’m so lucky to be in this district.

We moved back to the area in 2007, and started our oldest in kindergarten at Mountain View - last year he graduated and his siblings now attend. Love this school - great environment for kids if you want them to learn, very good teachers, very supportive/active PTA and parents, who contribute a lot of time and money, too, (there are a lot of well-off families that can afford it,, clearly). It's as good as a public school can be in California in light of the constraints of bureaucracy, teaching mandates, and common core adoption.

I had three children in this school The Principal Mr. Woods treated my kids horribly. They were bullied teased and one was recommended for special education when she tested out normal. They just want your money. The kids there are cruel. The staff there don't care about your children at all. My son was labeled there and treated so cruely he would come home crying all the time. I would never recommend this school to anyone unless you want your child scared for life like mine.
