My son goes to kindergarten here and it is such a wonderful school. Small class sizes, absolutely wonderful teachers, and the counselors do so much to make sure the littlest kiddos are well supported. My son has been having a hard few days and the social workers work as a team with everyone to make sure the adults are well informed and the kids are loved and supported. Social emotional learning is also emphasized here and I'm so excited to see him succeed.

Alamo is a wonderful school. We moved out of the city when our older one was about to start elementary school due to the stressful lottery system and we just could not handle the uncertainty. Only to realize that the city is our home and we returned back (Yes, call us crazy if you may !!) with only one fear - a good school for our kids. We have been so lucky to find Alamo. The warm welcome from the parent community was so overwhelming. We truly understood the meaning of community once our kids started going to Alamo. The wonderful parent community at Alamo is so supportive. Principal Fong is so committed and the teachers are so dedicated to student well-being. Alamo has a very strong and involved PTA and a rich after-school enrichment program that has arts, ceramics, coding, dance, music, chess, and so on. My kids are thriving. We are so lucky that we were able to go to Alamo and able to walk to our neighborhood school every day.

My son started kindergarten and Alamo and has had an amazing experience. Even though there are four classrooms per grade, it feels like a small community. Our son's teacher is experienced, yet she brings this freshness and engagement with the children that creates a great learning environment. There are many ways for parents to get involved, such as the Halloween carnival, and it's not all about fundraising, but raising fun as well. I'm very pleased with the afterschool program RDASC, as the staff are well trained, observant, and care about the kids. Our son sings the school song with pride: "Everyone's a friend I know, at A-L-A-M-O!"

Our school is Alamo Elementary in SF's Richmond District. My son is in the First Grade and we have had a great experience thus far. The teachers at Alamo are wonderful---long tenured, dedicated and caring. Principal Fong is in her second year at the school and has brought great energy, new ideas and best practices from her long successful career into the school. The PTA is active and growing with lots of fundraising, community building and enrichment programs for kids and parents. Alamo is a wonderful school and should be a top consideration for local families!

This is our second year at Alamo and we can not believe it.. Our daughter is in first grade and she loves going to school. We have had great teachers and well as great supportive parents and the PTA. Everyone goes above and beyond to accomplish goals for the kids.. Principal Fong is extremely great and a fantastic resource.. All the teachers have tenure and all fully invested in making a difference with the kids.. I'm so glad that my other two kids will also be attending here ..

A-L-A-M-O, that's my school, that's Alamo!! Magic. It's all true, there is something alchemical that happens here. Not evident to the naked eye, but the HEART comes through in just about every touchpoint. No attitude, all commitment. I was going to move my family out of state for financial-survival reasons, but I simply could not tear us away from this school. An irreproducible combination of intellectual engagement, society building from the ground up, and well-rounded dedication to fostering excellence, confidence and JOY in our children on as many fronts as possible--academic, artistic, athletic, expressive, civic, social and compassionate. "A" is for "Amazing." Alamo truly carries on a rich and proud legacy of authenticity in achievement. Come here only if you want to fall in love and give your heart and helping hands to a community of genuinely wonderful people, big and little.

I decided to play the public school roulette and had Alamo as my first choice. And we WON!! 14 months in I couldn't be happier. The Principal Fong, is very visible and approachable and truly cares about moving Alamo ahead and keeping it a strong school. Very well run school.

Many moons ago I went to Alamo! Imagine how proud I am that my first grader is walking a mile in my shoes and experiencing what I had first hand! I love Alamo, its teachers and am surrounded by parents who are as involved as I am!

Alamo's motto is "be a friend". They empower each student to be kind to others and to find joy in learning. The dedication of the teachers is absolutely amazing. This urban school has a great and involved community as well. My son asks me most days if we can get to school early!

Alamo is a great school that enforces their motto "Be A Friend". My son is excited about going to school every weekday. He has made many friends since kindergarten. He is currently in 4th grade and also in violin class and a lunch football league (which I didn't even know existed before) that is provided by the school. Also, he likes what he's learning in class. They provide healthy breakfast and lunches provided by Revolution Foods. My son enjoys his school very much.

Our child has started K this year and we were super nervous. Our boy is only 5 y.o. and very active. Thanks to his teacher (Mrs.Liu), the classroom environment is a perfect combination of discipline, care, creativity, play and learning. I am much relieved and know my child is in good professional hands! Great schools attract excellent teachers!

Our son just started in Kindergarten at Alamo this past August, and we love it! Back when we were touring, we were overwhelmed by all the variables and possibilities, but ultimately what mattered most were the most basic things. The school day goes from 8:40-2:40, which is ideal for us - it mirrors our work schedule and it means our son can wake up without an alarm and we can ease into each day -- happy. The school has a great sense of community with assembly each morning. Our son sings his school song every day, all day, to the point all our non-Alamo friends know the Alamo song too! His teacher (and all the others I've heard of) do a great job communicating with us via regular email. Our son feels cared for and safe, and has made lots of friends. While schools can be differentiated on lots of things, for us, these were the things that mattered most, and Alamo has been fantastic!

My son comes home from first grade every day with an "A-star-plus-plus" grade for his teacher. The grades work as teams and the parent involvement is excellent.

Alamo has been one of the top schools in San Francisco for a long time. It has changed since the 70s, when not all of the children were allowed to attend. My Chinese brother-in-law, school age at the time, sat on the curb along with his parents in protest. Now the school has one of the highest API scores in the City and it has come a long way from the 70s. We are proud to have such a fine school in San Francisco.

This school is great and I had two children there. They both enjoy going to school everyday. I was very worried about my younger daughter how she was doing since she was very shy. But it turn out to be fine. I ask them both everyday about how they were doing at school. I always get an answer "good" and start talking about all kinds of things they did at school. I am very happy about Alamo. All the parents and teachers are very friendly. I feel very safe dropping them off and went off to work.
