Juarez Elementary is a great school. Our family has been part of Juarez through two kids now and changes made on campus since our beginning have. We. For the better! Teachers are dedicated to teaching students and since switching to a 90/10 model in 2022 for Spanish dual-immersion the growth in language acquisition from the younger kids is amazing. Admin, teachers and staff are always available for questions and support. It’s a smaller sized school and it feels more like a community than kids been shuffled through a school. Juarez also has a great variety of events and activities on campus and after school, some held by the school itself but mostly by their parent organization (PTO). The PTO is at all events, supporting the students and families. There are some fundraising events but also so many no cost events that all families feel included. We really enjoy being at Juarez and have attended other neighborhood schools for summer academics and events and nothing quite compares.

Juarez is a small school with a dynamic environment. I've been a parent of Juarez Bulldogs for 5 years now, and I'm so glad we found this gem. Not only do your students learn Spanish in an immersion environment (you'll have a fluent student before you know it), but the teachers are what make this school SO WONDERFUL. They are truly some of the best humans I've ever met. They treat the children with care, as if they were their own. I'm so excited for the positive direction this school is heading, and with a change in leadership, it will be exactly what's needed to take Juarez to the next level. If you're considering Juarez, don't hesitate.

Now that our leadership issue has been fixed, I’m back to loving Juarez! The teachers are incredible, the Spanish immersion is so important for our kids, and the prime time program is great as well. I choice my son into this school for the immersion and the teachers. They also have new play structures this year, running club in the morning, and soccer shots (paid activity) on Wednesday’s. The kinder teachers are seriously the best of the best. They incorporate lots of music and physical activity to keep the kids comfortable and on task. They are so positive and help the kids feel safe

10 out of 10. This school has been so great for my children. They love going to school each day and come home happy with how the day went. I love the Spanish English immersion.

I love the community at this school. Parents work together to advocate for all of the children's best interests. The PTO raises funds that directly support classrooms and organizes school wide events. The Spanish language dual immersion program is an incredible opportunity that can provide lifelong benefits to the students.

Luckily my kid was only here one year. I would not put him in again if I had the option. Unfortunately we moved in summer and this was our neighborhood school.

Love it! Kids love it...It's a small school so everyone - students, teachers, staff, and even parents - all know each other! It's awesome that they've added the immersion program. My oldest didn't have it when she attended. And my next oldest was a year ahead of it! But my third is in K now and a part of it and it's awesome! He's learning a lot! It's called good school!

Years ago when I first walked in for a tour I met a loving Lisa at the front office who walked me around the campus and Mrs. Marquez was the woman who sealed the deal...

I wrote a long, detailed review—and somehow it got lost when I submitted it. I won’t re-write it but in a nut shell:We are very happy with the school. My child finished Kinder here and is just about to start 1st. I was very nervous, but the teachers (Kinder teachers) were AMAZING. Really, loving, patient, yet serious about good habits. They have a tough job, that is for sure. The class sizes were large (if you ask me)—about 21 per class room with only 1 teacher. However, my child learned so much, it’s hard to believe. There is homework, but it is very minimal (5-10 minutes per night), and if you occasionally skip it, they don’t mind. The bilingual program is great—but of course it does increase the challenge level for the kids.Cons: The school does not yet have AC, and the principal seems like she prioritizes learning and safety—but she also holds herself somewhat unaccountable to parents, meaning that she is not always responsive. Although this did not happen to me, a friend said they had a seriously hard time getting a conversation with her—despite phone calls, emails and even dropping by (to which they were told she doesn’t take drop ins). When I had questions she was responsive (email) until she didn’t like the conversation- and then she stopped being responsive. However, she does value the children, and based on the other parent’s previous comments—sounds like she was dealing with disciplinary issues.

We hate this school, why? Because of the incompetent staff. They can't handle kids apparently. My son has been traumatized since the first week of school here cause they keep calling the police on him. Yes, a 6 year old boy. They have no problems singling him out and suspending him for any and everything. And we're not the only ones who have had their kid suspended countless times, cause we have been in the office and seen others being sent home too. The principal always resorts to the most dramatic way to handle any situation, I hope she gets fired soon after we're done reporting her for these incidents.

We have two children enrolled here. It is a great small neighborhood school. The staff/teachers truly care about their students success. Being a small school allows all of the staff to get to know all the students and provide the children with a friendly community atmosphere for learning. Also, must say the Spanish immersion program (my child is in the second year of the program) is excellent, a great benefit for public education! We are very happy with our neighborhood school.

This is a great small school. We moved to San Diego a couple years ago and I looked at several schools in the area since the one that we were assigned to was full I got to pick from others that had room. This was the first school that had very nice office staff and they were really helpful. My childs teachers both years have been really involved in my childs education. My child loves going to school here. Its also a great location and safe! They keep the gates locked during the day so no random person can walk on to the school without going through the office first. I love the fact that the school is really small and everyone knows everyone.

This small school with a great hilltop location has a very dynamic principal and caring, hard-working teachers and staff, all dedicated to our children's education. It's a fine school now and getting even better.

Juarez Elementary, San Diego, CA This school has excellent teachers. I have two daughters who went to this school. Don't let the rating fool you. The principal is pleasant and always willing to sit down and talk face-to-face, about any situation. The teachers are fantastic leaders. My girls loved each teacher they had. Parents are readily encouraged to participate in events and get involved in their child's learning. The class sizes are small as well as the overall school population. My girls truly blossomed and learned things that amazed me. Top-notch education is what they received.

I will miss this school when my children leave!

My son started a year earlier than he should have in Kindergarten. The teachers here helped him become the best student that he could be! He is finishing the 2bd grade this year and is constantly told that he articulates very well and beyond his years!! This school also treated my son's (very bad) allergies with the utmost of care and concern! Now that this school has started bilingual teaching, it can only get better!!!
