A+ . Worth the trip. So many opportunities for students. Transfered my daughter from private school to Ft. Concho and we all couldn't be happier. Love this school!!!

There are not words to say how much we love Fort Concho! My oldest child was in 2nd grade when he was accepted into the GT program. I saw no reason to switch schools at the time, being as we were perfectly happy where we were. We went to Fort Concho for a meet and greet that they hold for incoming GT students, and I was absolutely blown away! Lori Barton is AMAZING and I just absolutely love her!!! She makes everyone feel like they are personally important to her (and that's because they are). She remembered all of our names (even my daughter's who was only about 2 yrs old at the time) after only meeting us all once! And over the years she's always stayed up to date on what is going on in our lives and always cares! There is a very strong emphasis placed on extending education beyond high school which I think is wonderful. The teachers are great! The enrichment programs are spectacular! We started our daughter there in Kindergarten because we now can't imagine sending our children anywhere else! Fort Concho is truly a family where everyone is treated equally, everyone is cared about, and everyone is willing to jump in and work together! No other school can compete with Fort Concho!

This is an excellent school! My daughter transferred here for the GT program, and we could not be happier! The principal, Mrs. Barton, is outside everyday greeting the students and knows their parents by name as well. I have also seen her and other teachers at ball games that students from Ft Concho are participating in. My daughter has excelled here and the technology she has access to in her classroom is amazing! We are going to miss this school when we move next year!

Ft. Concho is a 10 in my book. The rating of 5 is based on 2 low scores from 2004 and is not an accurate reflection of the wonderful staff from top to bottom at this campus. My daughter transferred mid-year in 2011/12 to the 1st grade GT program. With 1st grade being her only experience in a public school setting and half the school year over, we were hesitant about changing schools especially already being in a top rated San Angelo school. But all it took was one visit and we all knew this was the campus for our children. The principal, Mrs. Barton, is out there most every day loading and unloading students. She knows them by name and most of the younger siblings too. She has even called to see how my daughter was doing. The librarian, Mr. Ericson, is one of the nicest people you will ever meet and dedicates much his free time keeping the library open after hours encouraging students to check out books. The teachers take the time to get to know you and make you feel welcome. Our daughter has thrived at Ft. Concho and feels challenged. If this is a school you are considering then go check it out and meet the staff you wont be disappointed.

When my daughter became elgible for the G/T program at Ft Concho we really debated if it was the best choice for her. Why should we take her out of a school that she liked and that her older sister still attended? After one visit we were convinced to transfer our daughter and we couldn't be happier! Everyone at Ft. Concho is pleasant, professional, and FRIENDLY! Mrs. Barton and all her teachers and staff really seem to enjoy their jobs and in many, many ways go the 'extra mile' to motivate, encourage, and inspire ALL the students. There is just an air of positivity at Ft. Concho and it is sadly not the same at my older daughter's school (one of the highest ranking schools on greatschools.com). I especially appreciate Ft. Concho's emphasis on teaching fine arts. All students have the opportunity to study music, dance, and art in all types of mediums. There are numerous after-school enrichment programs, and it seems there is always something fun that Ft Concho students have to look forward to. Mrs. Barton has done a wonderful job involving the community, parents, and students to work together at Ft. Concho to ensure student success. We love Ft. Concho!

Fort Concho is the best school my daughters have gone to. Being military my oldest daughter went to three schools before reached 1st grade. The staff at Fort Concho is very helpful, out going, from the top down. We are always informed of whats going on at school. My oldest daughter is a GT student and is well ahead of her grade level on every subject thanks to here first grade teacher. This year we transferred our youngest daughter to Fort Concho simply because we love the school and staff that much.

I cannot comprehend how this school can only qualify as a "5"! We are a military family with a history of homeschooling two gifted little boys. When we moved to San Angelo and learned of the GT Magnet School here, we enrolled my older son based on his FL GT scores. My older son (who is also a grade ahead for his age) FINALLY was able to be in a classroom setting with other students like him! His younger brother had not yet tested for GT (Kinder) and was in the "districted" school (which rates higher than this - not for any reason I can see). He had trouble adjusting in that school. The Ft Concho principal, Ms. Barton, went out of her way to help him transfer over to Ft Concho to be in Ms. Graham's class. He flourished!! He is naturally rather shy and somewhat emotional, but he became very outgoing and confident under Ms. Graham's wonderful tutelage. What a difference!! Ms. Fluitt (3rd grade GT), in my opinion, is uniquely qualified to deal with the "issues" of GT students, allowing them the educational leeway they need to self-direct and go more in-depth than any normal classroom would allow. I cannot praise this school enough! Nothing else has come close!!!
