Wow, just when you think the scores are getting better they plummet. Three years ago the math scores were 30 points higher than they are today. What is going on with the testing at SHS? They hire consultants to make the teachers teach better, and the scores fall? Finally have some stability at administration so it must be on the governing board. Vote them off. Hidden agendas are killing the school.

SHS is a 2. The poor rating stems from problems starting at the top. Micromanagement by the board has seen the school employ 13+ different superintendents over the past 25 years with the longest in the past fifteen having a 4.5 yr tenure. The only core faculty stability the HS has had was their math department which has carried the school through many years of poor AIMS scores and FAR BELOW AVERAGE graduation rate (<65%). Again, in 2010, SHS had the highest scores in LaPaz Co (according to their website www.salomehs.org) but to the schools poor management the complete math department (2 teachers) resigned and moved on to other schools. They continue their rotating English teacher position with the hiring of the 7th teacher in 7 years. If you plan to move to the Salome area it would be advised to look at the other area high schools for your children
