Ramsey is a really fantastic school with amazing teachers. I don't find that standardized test scores give an accurate representation of what makes a school great. It's really about the teachers, their attitudes and the happiness of the kids. My kids have a ton of support from their teachers and the staff, they truly care about the students. I know my kids learn the skills they need to be good humans, not just academic all stars. Because at the end of the day, people will remember you for how you make the feel.

Amazing school, the second you walk in the door you are greeted with flowers and a red carpet, every student respects all the students and all the staff and it has an unusual low amount close to no of violence. Our test rates are the best in the state. I sent my kid here and he came back with with his very own tutor to get his grades up, the musical department was amazing they did a full version of sleigh bells for the winter ball.

1000/10. This is an amazing school with a very diverse community. Almost all of the teachers are amazing people that I still keep in contact with and are people I look up to but they also taught very well.

Eh its after school and science, French, history, digital media and math programs are good. But English needs some help.

Ramsey isn't perfect; make no mistake. However, they have improved immensely over the past five years and I have to hand it to the dedication of the staff and students who make this a great place to receive an education.

Ramsey is a diverse school in a nice, residential setting in St. Paul. Having had 3 children at the school, I would say the exposure to kids from all backgrounds and participation in one of the best middle school music programs in the district has far outweighed any criticism of the school. My child who attends there now is taking 2 foreign languages, is in the National Junior Honor Society and hopes to be in WEB next year. WEB is a class for 8th graders and one of their duties is to assist and lead group sessions for the incoming 6th graders. The school also offers AVID classes, which help prepare students for success in high school and college. The principal is dynamic and understand what is needed to move the school forward.

This is a terrible school! The students are disrepectful and the administration can't control them. I wouldn't recommend this school to any family!

Ramsey Middle School needs to be shut down. Terrible, horrible school! We had to pull my child out of this school for extreme bullying. The teachers and staff would do nothing about it and told us its middle school and thats just the way it is. It is an unsafe environment!

My child was in Ramsey for 6th Grade this year. Next year she will be going to a different school. The main reason she is leaving is due to the disruptive behavior of many of the students. This includes foul language and total disrepect. I don't want my child at a school where kids are so abusive to teachers to cause the teacher to cry. I also didn't think the administration sent enough communication home to parents. They talked about changing the way they deal with the kids but never told the parents if they were going to change it or what the steps are for discipline. The school web site is very out of date so looking for that information is time consuming at best. I hope Ramsey can improve - they need to improve communication with students and parents as well as enforce rules for respectful interactions.

As a former student currently in 9th grade, I would say I have mixed feelings about the school. I had good experiences with most of the teachers, and I had good experiences with sports too. Although the classes were a bit sub par. I was a straight A student in all advanced classes, but now that I am in high school, everything is harder. I don't think that Ramsey did enough to prepare people for high school, because they would put every single student in advanced classes even though some students weren't necessarily at that level or willing to work at that level. Teachers were constantly trying to keep the underachieving kids engaged and the class would move at a slower pace as a result. This combination lead to some pretty boring classes. I remember in 7th grade we only read one full chapter book in English class, while other schools were reading that book as well as to kill a mockingbird and Shakespeare. I guess it wasn't an awful school, but I wouldn't exactly recommend it. Wait one last thing. I feel that it is worth noting that my 8th grade science teacher was very good and he was probably the only teacher who prepared me well for high school.

This was the first year our son was enrolled in the SPSD and started 6th grade at Ramsey. We have been very disappointed in the school and plan to pull him out next year. Our son complained about students cursing out teachers in the classroom, distractions from other students and the overall violence. We thought he was exaggerating (one student versus the majority) until speaking to his teachers and grasping the extent of the problem. Even sadder, this is a district known problem with teachers and parents from other schools acknowledging and commenting on the problems at Ramsey when I mention my son goes there. We actually really liked the teachers; unfortunately, the faults of the school cannot make up for the teachers. As a parent, I will not send my child back to a school I do not feel that he is safe or receiving an environment conducive to learning. As a minor point, there were not tryouts for sports teams so 35-40+ students were on a team, and particularly with baseball, assume your 6th grader will not play in a game all year even if the team is well ahead in the game.

Ramsey for me, a student, has been good in some ways, and bad in others. I love the teachers, and how we can be in higher grade level math classes. I don't like the disruptions we have in class sometimes, and how some classes aren't challenging me enough.

This school is horriable! I sent my daughter there and it was just plain chaos. The teachers are not fair and very rude. You can deffinaty tell that this school is a city school. I would under no circumstances recomend sending your child there!
