My first grader has cried every day when being dropped off by his sibling since starting this year and when I dropped him off I received no support from the teacher to help get him into class, I questioned him on why he didn't want to go and he said he was being bullied by another student and showed the teacher who was doing it, she said she would watch it and that was it. Pretty sad I have to take my child home because he won't stop crying and no staff to help him feel comfortable going into class or even assist.

We have a kindergartner there this year, and we have been so impressed. Everyone is so friendly! The gym and science teachers stand at the doors each day and greet each student by name—they learned my son’s name within a week. His classroom teacher has been there for over 20 years and is so kind and welcoming. The new principal engages directly with the families and has a great positive energy. The PTO is engaged and care a lot about equity. We are only a few months in, but we are also impressed by the academics—we noticed our son’s literacy skills (and social skills) improve by leaps and bounds.

Como Park Elementary has a very positive environment for both teachers and students. Our teachers are very highly qualified and experienced. Many of the teachers at Como love the school and have been working there for most of their career. The school has very strong, effective leadership. Como also has a very large special education department that meets the unique needs of many students that come from throughout the district in a variety of appropriate settings housed in a large section of our school. Our students come from many diverse ethnic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds and they work hard and are kind to one another. We have a full time school counselor, behavioral interventionist, and school nurse. We have a high population of English learners who have trouble showing their true skills and performing as well on tests that are linguistically and culturally skewed, yet they show higher than average growth year to year as their language proficiency grows. This school holds their students to high academic and behavior expectations. We work hard and have fun! If you send your child here, they will be learning in a safe space with friends and teachers who care about them.

The school seems to have a chronic problem with staffing shortages. This is especially a concern for the many children with special needs that go there. They do not have adequate resources to meet the needs of their students in special education. My child has Down syndrome and our experience there was a nightmare. We eventually switched to a different school with better staff and it was a night and day difference.

Very bad school. Don't send your child here unless you are prepared to deal with unprofessional staff and ignorant teachers. They don't try to embrace a child, they try to implement and reform them.

My younger brother was in the special needs classes at Como Park Elementary and it was an absolutely horrible experience. The school is dark and creepy and has dark windowless classrooms. When my parents went in for a eat lunch with your parent day the principal completely ignored my mother and walked away when she walked up to her to say hello. when my younger brother (who has down-syndrome) was told that he was going to go to a new school he cheered and said "Yay, yay no more como." this is how much of a bad experience that we had with the school. I would not recommend this school to anyone ever. And if you are going to dismiss this comment saying that I am just a child I am 17 years old and this is a very accurate discription of this school
