We love wohlwend. We've had amazing experiences with the staff.

Our son has been in Wohlwend for two years now and our daughter is starting kindergarten in fall. It's a great school. The PAWS parents club is very involved and has many events throughout the year (Trunk and Treat, School Picnic, Teacher Appreciation, School Parties). The school offers Chess, Hiking, Girls on the Run, Student Council, and Garden club. The school and teachers offer different free events that parents and students can be involved with (Blue Bird, Garden clean up, scholastic book fair). Mehlville community enrichment offers after school classes throughout the year at a cost. Y-Care is available at school as well. The teachers we've had so far have been great. They seem to enjoy what they do.

Had multiple kids go through this school sadly. The principal is very "whatever" about everything. Concerns are not treated seriously. If your child struggles to sit still at all times (even in kindergarten) and has any issues at all, instead of talking to your child, or trying to solve issues, they will immediately tell you something is wrong with your child and slow their education instead of trying to determine what is going on or you know, teach your child (seeing it's a school and all, why would we work with your child and teach them?!). The office staff struggles with attention to detail which is concerning since they are supposed to help ensure the safety of the kids at the school, but when they miss small details on a regular and consistent basis for multiple years, how can you trust the big details with them? If you have to make a left turn into the school during pick up or drop off you will have to run the red light or sit there for 20 minutes to turn. Over many years I have watched all the buses with the kids have to dangerously run the red light. Pretty scary to have to regularly watch school buses full of children put in a dangerous situation when it could be changed/resolved. The school is aware that it is a dangerous issue, but refuses to resolve it or change it. They just keep they way they handle it the same every year and anticipate that by doing the same thing every year, the traffic and hundreds of other people will magically change. The school district puts at least one half day on the schedule every single month of the entire school year and some months they have two. They always put them on Wednesdays or close to other days off from school so working parents have to use all their vacation time or pay extra after care in the middle of the week every single month. So if you're a working parent this will be a consistent struggle for you. If they insist on having such an excessively psychotic number of half days every year they could at least put them on Fridays so working families don't suffer as much. Overall, the school does not have a welcoming/friendly culture in general due to all the issues described here.
