My student came to South after attending Clearview Elementary (in St. Cloud). As part of the Spanish Immersion program, they had a more structured/more personalized elementary experience, but have had an easy time transitioning into South. We appreciate the great opportunities for engagement at South and the ones that partner with Tech High School students as well. Great opportunities in music - band, choir, orchestra as well as a range of activities to encourage students of all abilities and interests to engage in co- and extra-curricular activities. Similar to other schools, there are some excellent teachers who motivate, engagement, and encourage students to reach their potential, and others who aren't at that same level. Students will get great support from their advisory (homeroom) teachers, counselor, administration and all the support staff - who get to know students while waiting in line for lunch, between classes, etc. and know them by name. Yes, there are some fights. Yes, we feel comfortable with the way they are handled and how they are communicated to the parents in a timely manner. Overall the district and the school send regular communication so that it's easy to know what's available - from new sports sign-up, to upcoming exams, spirit weeks, volunteer opportunities and we feel connected to the community. Enrolling at South allowed our child to continue with the Spanish Immersion which builds into the high school experience and a capstone international study experience. Strongly recommend South!

My experience at this school was terrible. I had to remove my child from the school due to excessive fighting and not much was done to rectify the problem. The teachers try but there is much work that still needs to be done.
