My experience with this school is phenomenal. They take the time to actually get to know the child and the family so the educational instruction is suited to the individual. I am glad to be in such an inviting atmosphere where you can feel the care provided by the staff and the involvement of the families.

My child is constantly being left out and bullied by the another student who my child has to face every day and including all extra curricular activities. The bully makes up stories and blames my child for no reason and now the entire school seems to have a forced opinion against my child. Anti-bullying policy seems to be a good idea but it doesn't mean anything without follow through. Instead of properly dealing with it, the entire class is lectured to, which again points the finger directly at my child. We are considering not returning next year. Its too bad because we volunteer a great deal of time to support the school.

Oh brother, the parents are "brainwashed" with each other's mentality. Yes it is catholic school, but it should offer more than what the children are getting. Yes they prepare them for catholic high school, but does the school prepare them for "the reality of life's real issues", or do they just "sweep it under a carpet".

Saint Teresa is a fantastic school with a tremendous focus on faith and service to the community; teaching children that an education is not just about the knowledge gained from classwork and text books. The administration promotes the idea of the well rounded student. In addition, I love the school's anti-bullying policy. Some schools claim to not tolerate bullying...Saint Teresa is an example of what a zero tolerance policy environment really looks like.

I am a public school teacher & my children attend St. Teresa's. While it is true that the property doesn't have a lot of 'glitz' (But technology-wise they surpass many schools) the focus is on academics & character. Standards at this school are high & it is a little school with a big heart. (Sorry- stolen from someone's previous post- it's true) Students are very prepared when they get to high school. I think when searching for a school, delve a bit deeper than PE 1x a week or the street it's on. My oldest graduated from St. Teresa's & is at Paul Vi. The teachers there say great things about the students from St. Teresa's. Great idea! -when searching for grade schools- call high schools & ask them about the preparedness of kids who arrive from grade schools you're looking at. Catholic School is not for everyone- STRS is not for everyone- but it fits our families' standards and priorities perfectly. (But admittedly if busing is important for your family, you're out of luck. We use the before and after care- and it works for us.) One more thing...I agree with the person who posted on Jan. 8- Many schools have merit- it just depends on what is a good 'fit' for your family.

I would like to respond to the person talking about "super school", you mean a merged school? who cares. My children go to the merged school and have made friends and are happy children. There are only two classrooms per grade, so I dont know what you are talking about when you said you lose a handle on things. The parent involvement is wonderful and the atmosphere is friendly and small. So I dont think one school is better than the other. And for you to try and down another catholic school nearby is wrong. I will give St Theresas all stars, because even though I have no children there, I do not doubt that it is a great school, just like ours is.

Well we do all have a right to voice our opinions- and this previous post has compelled me to do so. In my opinion- St. Teresa School is not "just another Roman Catholic School that is run [by] a sister." There is a heart in this school that I challenge you to find in another- yes, the education that my children are getting is fabulous- yes, the teachers are all more than qualified and attentive and the principal is 'hands on' and on top of all that is happening in the school- but this small charming school is special. We are so fortunate to have been able to stay as a small school and not become one of these "super" schools that the diocese has created- where it is difficult to keep a close handle on all that is happening there. There's an intimacy here- where relationships are formed and everyone truly cares about my kids and they are better for it. There is also a rich tradition with the IHM sisters having run the school since the beginning. There's really no comparing to other private Roman Catholic Schools- a Catholic education is a good education- but a St. Teresa Education is a step above!!! Just my opinion.
