The school needs to train EVERY teacher and staff on how to interact with IEP students. There’s a difference between a distributive child who does it all-knowing and a distributive child because of an imbalance. I get it, there are children who just don’t make progress. However, not all ADHD children are the same. My child when redirected will respond with the same tone you dish out. He’s visually driven so when you show with action how to act, he understands. He comes home stressed with the treatment he gets every day. As much as us parents are seeking therapy to understand how to interact and redirect these children, so should all teachers and staff. It’s just defeating to see your child who used to love school come home stressed and depressed for something he/she is working so hard on. These children need support from all staff not just the 2-3 who specialize.
