Was a senior of class 23, overall the experience was alright but there are a good majority of students that are disrespectful to everyone around them and cause a disturbance to everyone in class, teachers are normally to nice and let them get away with it but even if they put their foot down theu get verbally assaulted by these kids. I was lucky enough to have soom good teachers but at times there would be a teacher that was passive aggressive with students. PE teachers were always late and for the 2st semester of my senior year there were times the PE teacher never showed up and this happened a few times. Fighting is a regular in stairwells and most of the time there isn't much to be done about them. Luckily they installed metal detectors so hopefully the crime goes down a bit. There is a good chance you could get assaulted or caught up in a fight so be careful. If you stick to yourself you will be fine for the most part. It's not the greatest school by any means but it isn't the worst either. I was in the service academy for public safety and I think the classes were amazing and loved the teacher for criminal justice and crime scene along with the sociology classes! Everyone has their own experience so take that into consideration if you are interested in this school. They are inclusive for kids that are part of the LGBTQ+ and have a club for those kids to have a safe space. The teacher that ran it when I was in school was lovely.

I'm currently attending this school. My overall experience has been meh. I have a lot of issues I"d like to point out regarding this school but I won't. This school has its pros and cons but the cons definitely outweigh the pros. The teaching can be good depending on who you have. It all depends. The school system is absolutely horrible though. I wouldn't recommend anyone ever attending here. Most of the teachers don't really care like they say they do. Some students are absolute ANIMALS and have ZERO respect for the ones actually trying to learn. It's highly violent and the admin does nothing but punish the ENTIRE school because they lack the ability to lead like good leaders and role models. The whole academy thing is just messy. I wouldn't recommend being in the Service academy AT ALL. You could get assaulted at this school and you'll still be punished for simply defending yourself, even if you're in a situation where you have no choice. Most of the staff abuse the power they're given. They're unreasonable and petty too. The pe class is just terrible. You don't do any actual fitness work. The pe teachers take about 20 minutes to even get their classes started but give you a hall pass as soon as you're a second late. Don't torture your children or yourself by going to this school at all. 5/22/23

love this school. the teachers do the very best they can to ensure every child their right to learn. they make sure you are not falling behind. the environment is friendly and caring. Jefferson high school students and staff are like a family, they make sure no one is left behind.

I absolutely loved this school. The teachers really do care about their students and will do everything theycan to help their students. This school does what it can considering the school district leaders always give them less funding and is constantly screwing them over. I love the faculty here, they truly understand the struggles of being low income and disabled.

The whole system here isn't great. Principal isnt a good person. During lumch you are trapped in the lunchroom. No dress code is enforced. Fights on a regular basis, so much so that when you walk past security (why is there even security guards at the front?) there is a sign that says how many days the school has gone without violence. The teachers dont do any teaching and don't do anything. And bullying is everywhere. Don't put your kids at this school. It's a horrible choice.

Jefferson ranks near the bottom among all public high schools in the State of Illinois. The sad part is that the Principal, Don Rundall received an award. I suppose he stopped the students from rioting daily, but what about the on-going lousy test scores. The bar at Jefferson is set very low; for academics; for sports and especially when it comes to discipline. Bad student behavior is so often over-looked and has become the norm at Jefferson. Avoid sending your children here at all costs!
