This school’s director doesn’t speak truthfully. NHS doesn’t facilitate every child’s needs. Several staff members lack patience and fail to be supportive, which surprised me considering this is a special education school. Teachers and aides that treat students poorly. They will humiliate the child in front of the class. NHS utilizes homework to teach students. This school supports the use of calculators rather than educating the student in areas of need. If your child is struggling academically, NHS is merely a glorified BOCES. NHS didn’t locate my child’s learning gaps and fill them like the director of NHS promised. My child cannot graduate unless I pay for additional services myself. There is a HUGE problem within this school and the education system itself. I do not recommend this school.

I would not have graduated or gone on to college without the help and support of this school. I cannot speak to the environment now but my class was like an extended family. Class of 1997.

don't think I would be where I am without this school. Life is hard, and school suck for all kid, but this is a ok place, I guess. class of 2015

The NHS school is only concerned with one thing their reputation. They pick and choose who is important to help and who is not. They market themselves falsely and do not support the student.

Absolutely fantastic. Communication with teachers and support personnel is always welcome and helpful. This school has provided a tremendous improvement in the educational environment for our son.

The Norman Howard School lets me be who I am. They let me learn at my own pace. They also challenge me.

Norman Howard School provides a nurturing learning environment that supports the development of self-confidence which in turn fosters meaningful individualized progress. The school is a great place filled with great people. The teachers are caring, dedicated, and understand their students, while the administration is consistently supportive, involved and approachable. As our son says, "It's a great school" and he rates it 11 out of 10!

When my daughter was a special ed student in the public school system she hated school. She was bullied, mentally and physically. Now in Norman Howard she loves school, She is a border line honor rolestudent and she should graduate with a Regents diploma.She has also made some good friends which she never had in any public school. What a difference Norman Howard has made. Its wonderful, we got our daughterback.

Norman Howard is an exceptional school that teaches children with learning differences. It has changed my son's life and his outlook on school. He now enjoys going to school and learning for that matter...Every city should have the option of a school like Norman Howard. We moved to this area because of Norman Howard. It has been a gift that can not be replaced. We will always be grateful to this school.

If my son stayed in the public school, he would have been lost in the crowd. At NHS they have smaller classes so the student get the attention they need. He is in a safe, non judgmental school where he has had the opportunity to grow without harassment. He has become a wonderful young man who is going to be graduating with a diploma! He would never have achieved this if we hadn't changed schools.
