Athena has great programs for gifted students and high achievers. The district average scores however are brought down due to Greece being one of the largest districts in NYS. When you have a diverse population of poverty and affluence there is inevitably a different home life that can adversely impact students. Having a diverse student base is a differentiator when compared to more affluent and homogenized east side schools. Involved parents can easily ensure their children are getting the best experience and remaining high achievers.

The district is trying to save money, so they have closed most of the schools and put as many kids as they can in as few buildings as they can. As a consequence, this school, is a middle school and high school combined and has 2,000 students. Being in the hallways between classes is overwhelming, to say the least! My son is an autistic student and is in an 8 student classroom. I require them to take him from one room to another before all of the halls are filled with TOO MANY students. The staff is in complete denial about the bullying that goes on there. Some teachers, assistant principal, flat-out said, bullying DOES NOT happen in their school! My son only has 2 more years of school, thank God. I predict this entire situation in the Greece school district will not end well!

School was great, i enjoyed my time here. Teachers all have a goal, and I didn't have one teacher that I felt was incompetent in their section. Sports were great! Now working on my Bachelors degree!
