I have had three of my children go to Taft.....always felt welcome to help in the class rooms. My kids favorite school. Great neighborhood. Lots of parent, teacher interaction.

The teachers and staff are very good, and show concern about each student. The principal (Mrs. Brown) is very involved and is pulling in some great programs, such as AVID, that gears students to go on to college. The PTA is strong and provides a lot of enrichment for the students (field trips, assemblies, arts projects) and fun activities for families (movie/game nights, festival/carnivals, talent shows, etc)!

This school has a new Principal. Mrs. Van, Mrs. Kertz, Mrs. Perlstein, Mrs. Huynh are really great teachers. Hope this new principal checks what is sent out to parents, I have seen many errors in the publications.

The best 2nd grade teacher was transferred out because of staffing issues shortly after school started Sept 2010. She was the best 2nd grade teacher with a master's degree in education even; big loss. The replacement is a 27-year veteran of the system who is used to teaching higher grade levels, not the same as a lower-grade elementary teacher, however. The school is clean, principal is hands-on and very involved, school is organized. Riverside county standards are high, but meeting the standards is left to the discretion of individual schools where most of the variation in implementation occurs.
