This school for sure discriminates the children for their race and color. The people in the office are the worst, the principal and vice principal should do their job correctly. I been living in River Grove for 18 years not worth the money to waste on providing your taxes for this school the average test scores low, the children are so behind. The only thing I can say is special education are great but from there not worth your taxes.

I left the Chicago area for a better life in the suburbs. Yes, River Grove is quiet and there is always parking. Though the schools were terrible. Both kids were in advanced classes in 5th grade, my kids were learning 6th-grade work in Charter school. They came to Rhodes Elementary School and oh my gosh they were so behind in all subjects. My kids were too advanced for this school. My kids had to adjust to the way they were teaching. My kids qualified to be in advanced classes, but the teacher disagree because of their color and race. They didn't straightforwardly say it, but they said their scores were not high enough. Ha, their scores were 3rd in between all 5th grade from all 4 classes. I think that says enough. I heard many different stories from other parents about this school and why they were waiting for the school year to be over to transfer them from schools. They complained about color, race, bullying from teachers and students, and they also complained about how it was disgusting how the boys have to change from regular clothes to gym uniforms in a locker room and they are all naked and showering. I couldn't believe what they were saying. I had to see for myself. Well, guess what I also went through what those other parents were saying. Some parents told me that no one complains they just leave the school. There was one parent that was always on their behind. Later finding out that the school has video cameras in all sections of the school, but not all cameras work. So, we wouldn't have proof of what child was part of the bullying. This is stress on our children. I think this would be a good school if the principal and the vice principal did their jobs. Eliminate teachers that are not willing to teach.

Rhodes School is an excellent school that has ample opportunities for its students and community. Equipped with master teachers and a knowledgeable school board (as well as well-funded), Rhodes is a great choice when deciding which school will fit the needs of your child. A K-8 building helps students establish life-long friendships, create a sense of stability, and is a pillar in the community. With small class sizes, enrichment and resource opportunities, the instruction is tailored to each student.

over the course of the years Rhodes School has gone downhill. The lack of academic progress in the school needs to be address. The school needs to focus more on math and reading. test scores are below state level which disadvantages the school from maybe having better funding from the state to incorporate and provide better programs or assistance.

My son attended Rhodes in kindergarten and 1st before we moved. We loved it. Teachers really work with the children and challenge them to be better. My son was on an accelerated reading program and his reading level grew tremendously. Vety friendly staff from teachers to lunch ladies. We're really going to miss it.

I grew up in River Grove. I always told myself that when I had a family I would be here, I was wrong, I pay more than 50% of my taxes to Rhodes and because there is a line that divides this town , I can't send my son to PreK. The staff there is rude and not helpful. They told me if in some way I was able to send my son there he would be on a waiting list. If they have a grant to run preK for free than open it to all residents. Terrible village and I left the Major a message weeks ago and still no call back. Major Tom Tarpey would of never allowed this.
