This is supposed to be the top notch school of Cecil County however I moved here to the district 4 years ago. I have been sorely disappointed in the lack of enthusiasm these teachers have for teaching. My child is always told to just ask your parents if she doesn’t understand. The principal Elsie Harrigan hates the students and never ever is pleasant to anyone!

Awesome programs and staff. I am glad my students go to this school.

The school became over-crowded. No one in CCPS seems to say how it happened. They sent out a "Dear Parent/Guardian" letter about your "child/ren" who were attending on out of district waivers. With no exception all to the children are being sent back to their "home" schools. Some of these children have not ever attended their "home" schools. No visits to the schools, no counseling, and school is over, I guess to their friends those kicked out of Calvert will just disappear over the summer. In a meeting I had with the principal the principal stated the school board had made the decision- bypassing the allowing children to stay, but not allowing new out of district students. Prior to making the decision they never audited the car riders to see who was coming from out of district "illegally." The situation has been beyond disastrous to myself and my child. The school system and the principal have no empathy for situation and it has been made clear that the children and families are not cared about within the school system. My son's teacher was great but the administration for the school and the county are terrible in my opinion.

I have raised several generations of children who have attended Calvert Elementary School in Rising Sun ,MD. The staff treats everyone students, parents and grandparents like family. We have seen many teachers come and go but nothing ever affected the education our children are receiving. Calvert is always updating and making new information available to familys.

All 3 of my children have attended Calvert. They are 19,16 and 11. My youngest is a 5th grader this year. My family has had so many wonderful years at this school. The teachers are amazing people who care about their students. We are going to miss coming to this school when our daughter graduates. Yet we will ALWAYS have a place in our heart for Calvert Elementary School.

Around the area, the school is known as "Calvert Academy". This could change in the near future with redistricting on the horizon.

This school is top notch. I have 3 children in this school. One of my children was lagging behind the other students and he was assigned several different specialist for one on one time to bring him up to speed. The parent involvement is outstanding (every child has a parent come on field trips). The fundraisers each bring in several thousand dollars to fund special activities through out the year. The best test scores and attendance in the county. I would highly recommend this school.
