this is a family school. the staff and students treat each other like family. they look out for each other. the education is top notch and the teachers and supporting staff are the best.

I have three daughters. My highly academic athletic student graduated from Ripon High School. She played basketball, ran in track and Cross Country and participated in the talent show, choir and clubs. Yet the AP still said her name wrong in the talent show and called her by another person's name when announcing her group on stage. Her group worked really hard and no one, except her family, knew she was on stage. He got the popular kids names right and apparently that's whats important. Except for a few, Ripon High teachers and coaches were caring and hard working. Out of 30 something students in their classrooms they always took the time to respond to my emails and my concerns if there were any. My other daughters are in the 3.0 - 3.7 gpa range and didn't quite fit that highly academic/athletic highly spirited category that Ripon High seems to look for to highlight their school. Although my youngest did participate in Ripon's choir program and loved it. I ended up having to take my youngest out of Ripon's district because a teacher refused to accommodate an assignment and when I complained she changed the grade on an old assignment to a lower grade. Therefore, I transferred my youngest to another district where she was a lot happier. Both my oldest and my youngest have permanant medical conditions and Ripon High School wasn't a good fit for them. Again, most of the Ripon High teachers were pretty awesome, but my girls needed a larger school with more academic opportunities. They needed school and district policy that was going to guide them, reward them, give incentives and not make them feel less than because of their medical conditions. Larger schools have more clubs, more diversity, and less favoritism. Academics is important. College is important. Fitting in is also important. Not fitting in can cause depression, lower grades, and create a sometimes serious situation for some students. I am not so sure that Ripon High or our Ripon District understands this when they are only focusing on tests scores and winning games. Not everyone is a gifted athlete or is highly academic. Rumors and gossip run rampant in this little town and in our schools. Damaging and sometimes traumatizing rumors. This is a serious problem in our town and our schools. Ripon High school doesn't have hallway lockers and backpacks get very heavy. I recommend a lock for your backpack and password lock your phones because of classroom theft or retaliating students.

My two children have gone to Ripon High School and I think the teachers are very caring.
