BMES has been so wonderful for our kids! All of the teachers they have been assigned have been excellent, using a variety of strategies to engage kids while making school a lot of fun. We have been impressed with the STEM projects they work on, their writing and appreciation for reading, and their new social/emotional curriculum. We feel included and welcome in the school community.

BMES was great for my family for a few years but there was a drastic shift in everything. My children were very happy to move to middle school, BMES lost sight of social-emotional needs. There is definitely room for improvement.

My son joined BMES starting with 4th grade, transferring from another highly rated school in Brooklyn. He was nervous starting at a new school but acclimated quickly and made lots of new friends in no time at all. While he liked his old school, he felt that BMES was better in nearly every respect, but especially appreciated the smaller class size. He always had the support he needed from teachers and staff as a new student and felt at home in his new school (and new town) within the first month. A great school which made the stressful transition of moving so much easier!

The school's curriculum is outstanding. Their approach to easing first graders into the discipline and rigor of full-day school work is outstanding: well thought-out, caring, gradual and very supportive. The special activities - library, music education, gym, art eduation - are carefully integrated into the academic curriculum. The kindergartan and first grade teachers are excellent. The school has a policy of 're-mixing' classes every year starting from Kindergarten up to 3rd grade. This policy may work well for certain types of students, but for the socially less open kids this could be a bit challenging s they need to get used to a enw group of students each year.
