I LOVE Delta. It is an amazing school with great school spirit. I used to hate school, but Delta has made my high school experience amazing. The teachers and staff as a whole care about the students so much, I'm so thankful to attend.

This school is a nightmare. They have shiny brochures and an ugly real life. Their idea of perfection is a bunch of cookie cutter kids with no creativity. Forget any after school activities, sports, drama, art or even a library. They have like 3 clubs. They offer no personal career counseling, no personal college advice, just generic one size fits all. You will have no choice about the classes you take, and you will not be able to voice any issues, frustrations or concerns to any adult at the school. You will hate it, do not go!

First of all, this is a public school - not private. It calls itself a STEM school, but academics are lax and there are no class choices. Also, extracurricular activities are limited. Principal does horrible job with discipline. School has problem with drugs, fights, bullying.

I’m going to be honest: Delta High School is not much of a STEM school. Firstly, their academics are not STEM rigorous — it essentially feels like you are going to a regular high school. Secondly, their technology is not the quality you would expect from a STEM school. The laptops are old and in poor condition with awful battery life. There have been times when you have to go without a laptop (despite needing one for the class period) because they are all either broken or not charged. At a traditional high school, you have dances, sports, bands, theater, and many clubs to choose from. You also have a wide range of electives and classes. At Delta, there is not any of those fun options (except for a small number of clubs) and everybody takes the same classes. While you are allowed to be a part of a sports team or band at your home high school despite going to Delta, this is quite inconvenient if you and your parents have busy schedules since you have to go back and forth. You will also have to go to the dances at your home high school since it is not unheard of for Delta’s socials to be cancelled due to low turnout. An issue with Delta is the lack of separation between standard, Honors, and AP classes. As a result, students of varying academic abilities are in the same classrooms. Students with less academic experience fall behind, and students with academic excellence are held back. This causes frustration within the classrooms, causing the students to act out. This is not a positive, efficient learning environment.One thing that astounds me is the lack of respect students have for each other and for faculty. Drama, foul language, and even bullying are not too uncommon. Since students who require special assistance share the same classrooms as the rest of the student body, there are sometimes rude, insensitive remarks directed towards them. From my experience, the administration does not have an effective policy in place for dealing with disciplinary issues. As a result, there are few repercussions for their poor behavior, allowing the cycle to continue.With only several hundred students total, you would expect the class sizes to be small. They are not — there is about 30 kids per classroom. Delta, in theory, is an excellent idea. The program has promise, but in its current state I would highly recommend going to a traditional school instead.

Delta High School is a STEM school, (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) yet, the school hardly feels different compared to an actual school, sure our schedule is in blocks (A block, B block, etc) and those blocks do change in order each day, however that isn't the point. Even our grading system, which instead of A's and B's is actually based on a, what I like to call the "Counting" system, we are graded on numbers 0-4, a 4 being a 100% or A+, and a 3 being proficient at a 75% grade. The school provides alright food at lunch and like a lot of high schools we have our fair share of questionable teachers and staff. But as a student of the school I've gotten some insight into whether or not I can recommend this school, that's a definite no. Over the past years that I've attended there is virtually no anti-bullying or harassment system in place at this school that I have seen, in the entirety that Delta has come to being, only 1 student that I know of has EVER been fully expelled. If your being harassed, the only thing you can do is go down to the office, discuss your complaint, and receive the same simple answer of, "We're aware of the issue and we're doing what we can to improve it." That statement means absolutely nothing to me and I have not seen any improvement in various disrupters, some teachers will shut it down if there are bullying going on, but there are also those that only make it worse and even cause arguments with those students.Overall, the academic system and potential for students at this school is average in my opinion, I do not feel like I have very great advantages here compared to other high schools and I'm sure being swayed by the whole social experience that I've had here. There is less of a presence of "cliques" however there is still the presence of students with disruptive tendencies who wouldn't survive at their home high school.Do I recommend this school in terms of grabbing an education? Sure.But do I recommend this school if your looking to have a great experience with the students and teaching environment? Depending on the blocks that you share with certain people, probably not.

Ignore all the negative reviews: they don't know anything. Sure some of the teachers are a pain but that's what happens at almost every single school. One review from 2012 said the building was too small but in fact we have since moved to a brand new much more spacious building in Pasco. It is a good school for anyone interested in pursuing a career in a STEM field but as someone not interested in a STEM career I personally like that it's not a big school and that I at least know everyone in my class. The staff who aren't lazy or rude due genuinely care about the students so don't let a few bad (and some rotten) apples put you off. They keep on employing better and better staff after the bad ones give up and find jobs elsewhere. It's a good school! Even if you're not sure about Delta just apply for the lottery and if you're accepted then you can make a decision.

Great school for the future generations. My kid had to apply in the "lotto" and got accepted and I am so happy she goes here. This school focuses on STEM but also integrates basic subjects found in high school. Only downside is students often sacrifice things. There is no gymnassium so kids have to get their own P.E credits by doing things afterschool and recording the hours. This isn't hard for my daughter as she still does volleyball and track in her "home high-school" Richland High. Another thing can be there is no arts/music classes, but I am informed there are clubs for those and again; they can still participate art/music programs like band in their home high school.

After two years of my child attending Delta, I can say that I and another parent are very disappointed. We would not recommend this school.

I like the STEM school program and I love how small it is. With about 500 students it's easy for me to walk down the hallways with confidence. And with the endless presentations it gives me coragae. MOST of the teachers love there jobs and try to help you in any way they can. Also I feel as if the things I am learning are helpful and that I'll be using it in the future. But.. the actual staff at delta is a different ball game. I've been sent to the office twice, and I'll tell you why. The first time was because a staff member decided to lie and tell my teacher and the front office that I told her to "screw off". Let me tell you, I am not an angle but I would NEVER say that to someone who could possibly get me kicked out of this school, I like it here, I don't want to leave. That was the first time now here is the second, I was in class and I was actually being a little distracting by taking pictures, the sub. Told me to put that away, so I turned off the camera but kept it in my hands, I took no more pictures after that point. Like I said before I am a loud person (not too loud, but loud) and I kept on giggling with 3 other people at my table. The sub was standing at my tabe while the nurse was talking (we were having a free day and she came it to teach us something we already knew) I took another person's paper and decided to take some notes, I wasn't in class in the beginning, I came in the middle due to taking a test, so I didn't get the memo on what we were doing, so taking notes was something I just wanted to do. While taking notes I continued to laugh and got yelled at (in front of the whole class) and got told that I'm being sent to the office. I said okay and started packing my things. After being told to hurry about 4 times I finally got out to the hallway when I hear the nurse talk to the ENTIRE class about how the way I was acting was unnormal and that I was "on something" I just left after hearing that but then what's even worse is the sub criticized the way I walked and proceeded to tell me that the world wasn't revolved around me. I then told him that I never even mentioned anything about me, I was just telling him that we already learned that course. But he still fought me saying that I only thought about myself. I had to sit in the office the rest of the day. The office was parshly nice and parshly mean. But you know, whatever.

Delta High School is NOT a private school. This STEM school has students from the Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland schools enrolled. The incoming class is picked by a lotto system each year.

the school has a good concept in plan; a STEM school; science, technology, engineering, mathematics are what they focus on, modeled after a a STEM school in Seattle, but the space is WAY too small and the principal makes your life miserable, class mates of mine were always transferring and i transferred to three rivers home-link and i love it there! the teachers were good when i was there, but some left and some new ones came in. btw this school is not private, it is a public school and students get in via off of a lottery drawing.
