We moved here in 2020 during the height of Covid. During the school year of 20-21, the school did a wonderful job of staying open, going remote only for 2 weeks. They did an excellent job of contact tracing and required the minimum amount of students to quarantine due to exposure. They were able to do this because they utilized social distancing, outdoor classes, and split up the classes into groups. They followed the recommendations of the state and opened appropriately. We are so happy with our teachers and academics. We have loved every teacher and my son is absolutely thriving. He is exciting about learning and loves going to school. Despite the obvious issues that could have happened during covid/quarantine, I do not find that my son is at all behind and he is learning ELA, math, science, and social studies at grade level (or above). For those children who are struggling, the school offers several special teachers who work with these students daily during "i block". These children are able to receive extra help for english, math, and even english as a second language help. They offer OT, PT, speech, and even psych services. The students are also learning mandarin chinese starting in Kindergarten. It is truly incredible. The administration is great and very responsive to any concerns. Another thing that we love about this school is the option of children's center for before and after care (at a relatively low-cost). This school could not be better for working parents. The children's center is excellent and goes from 7am to 6pm if needed. They even offer options for childcare for special days (ie superintendent days, etc.). We are extremely happy to have moved here and love the school district. We came from a well-known and "excellent" school district in Westchester, NY and are much happier within this school district.

CAN I HAVE A SCHOOL BUS TRANSPORTATION FOR MY KIDS IF WE LIVE 1.5 MILES AWAY FROM SCHOOL? WE LIVE AT BROOKFALLS RD. I'M WONDERING IF THERE'S A BUS TOP THERE. WE RECENTLY BOUGHT A HOUSE AROUND THE AREA.

As a teacher and Putnam Valley Schools, I am in a unique position to write this review. I do not live in the district, but I consider myself very fortunate to work in this community. I recently suffered an injury, and the outpouring of support from this community was tremendous. The kindness and generosity of people in Putnam Valley really helped my family and I through a difficult time. Anyone who purchases a home in this community should consider themselves very fortunate. Kindness is not measured by any data point. The people of this community will do anything for you during a difficult time.

We have moved quite a lot (due to work), this is the best school we have been in. Great teachers, homework that isn't busy work, responsive administration.

This school is wonderful. We just moved from the city and this school is above and beyond the Catholic School that our son was enrolled in.

PVES is a warm, fun, enthusiastic environment, and the entire staff is dedicated to each individual student. In the five years my daughter has attended, I have not known of any child who didn't love going to school. In addition, every student has his or her own laptop!

My kids love their teachers and come home every night with packets of homework and books they have to read. It's clear that the teachers and administration care a lot about the students. The school offers before and after care and hosts parties throughout the year. I would give this school 10 stars if possible!!

I think the elementary school is a joke. Stop focusing on rompa room and get with serious learning. Very laid back approach to teaching. Class rooms are arranged where the kids look at each other instead of the chalk board. How do they expect children to pay attention to there teacher. My children barely have any books and when I ask them if they have a classwork book they look at me like I am crazy. Children don't take notes from the board. I don't like the schools approach to teaching very childish as if it is preschool. Let me add this classroom set up continues from K-4. 4th graders having story time on the rug. Thank goodness the middle school is excellent, what a different approach.

Great school that cares about their kids! The other children are very friendly as well. Our daughter was very uncertain about starting a new school after our move, but came back from her first day so excited that should could not wait to go back. That was two years ago and she has loved it every day since!
