Unless you're besties with administration you receive no support. Your concerns don't matter and heaven forbid if you disagree with them. They aren't looking for teachers to challenge and do what's best for the students. They are looking for yes men.

I am personally not a fan of several teachers and a lot of the students are brats that need to learn respect and empathy.

As a parent of a student at Skyview Middle School, I thought it was really good, actually one of the best (if not the best) middle school in the area. The only thing I didn't like was the common core math, my student is smart but struggled with that one subject and I agree it needs to go. Otherwise the kids (overall) and the staff seemed really great, and the facilities/performances were great too. We had to move away unfortunately but still miss this school and wish she could attend.

I have been a student at Skyview Middle School for three years. I just finished my eighth grade year and I am VERY happy about that. I didn't like this school for many reasons. Skyview says that they are a very anti-bully school but, that is all that happens. There is an enormous amount of cliques in that school. If you aren't in a "popular' clique then you get treated like garbage. Also, if you have a student with special needs, such as autism, DO NOT sent your student here. The students and some of the staff make fun of them. They can be very rude to the special needs students. They see them as someone easy to make fun of. Some of the teachers I really loved and that is why I gave two stars but, there are some teachers that I didn't like at all. For example, one teacher would always yell at us when they were having a bad day. You shouldn't take your anger out on students. This teacher is not fit to be a teacher. There has been numerous cases where students have gone to the vice principal to talk to them about this teacher and the vice principal did nothing. Lastly, I don't believe I got a real education out of my three years. I really didn't learn much. I never felt like the students nor the staff were ever really serious about learning. So if you want you student to learn something in middle school and have great teachers that encourage them and you want them to go to an anti-bully school, then DO NOT send them to Skyview Middle School!

This school has two tracks, the students who are valued, praised, and taught that they are better than the rest and those who are not in the AP track. There are many reasons why a student is not in AP, and none of those reasons are because they are "less than" anyone else. The teachers and administration all participate in this bullying, and it is not a healthy place for either track of students,

My daughter is in 6th grade and always has great things to say about each of her teachers and how wonderful her school is. However she does have one teacher specifically that inspires her to learn. A special thank you to all teachers because it takes a special individual to teach. An extra special thanks to Mr Hogan for enlightening my daughter in the subject of math. Not only does she mention how amazing the teacher is and how easy and fun she makes math clas, she also talks about different math equations and demonstrates how well she understands each lesson with excitement. Thank you!!!

This is a great school. Most of the teachers are really nice but some teachers could be unhelpful .

Im not happy with the school. My problem is more with teachers. My child's 8th grade math teacher is never willing to help or explain more on a question my child my have. Its been a repetitive problem. My other child has had problems with the band teacher and P.E teacher. when you talk to the teacher they are very disrespectful and not willing to help work with the parents or child. I do like the VP and front desk..they are helpful. Also the Car Loop needs to be managed better...

I am a teacher at Skyview Middle School and, naturally, will stick up for our school at all costs. Many of us spend countless hours helping students with all kinds of things, not just academic-based things. We stay after school to help tutor (at no charge), sometimes helping kids with subjects other than what we teach. I could complain about lack of funding and I could go on and on about being overworked and underpaid, but the truth is, I LOVE my job and I LOVE these kids. Kids are what keep me coming back, day after day. I can't think of another school I would rather be at than Skyview Middle. Like anything else in life, you get out of things exactly what you put in. If you give no effort in helping your child obtain a quality education, then you shouldn't complain. The grass is not always greener on the other side!!!!

I give Sky View a big thumbs down due to all the rude comments and language my daughter has told me about. moving to Pwms was a good move now that they have the IB program that Sky View does NOT have and should be recommended for any child.

Overall this is a good school. Like most schools, they are dealing with a funding shortfall. District 70 doesn't provide enough resources to teach the kids. The school has shifted teachers and classes again for the second year to deal with the funding and FOUR day school week. The administration is certainly playing a balancing act to hold it together. This year, they finally added advanced courses in science and language arts to add to the advanced math taught for a few years. The homework is bit excessive, but it will prepare the kids for high school AP classes. The teacher quality is a 9 out of 10, but they are really overworked and you have to stay involved in your own students work. The band program is really lacking, but the new music teacher is trying rebuild with no funding. There has only been one teacher (math) in the three years my child has been going to Skyview that has lost her heart to teach. She was very impatient, rigid and not very approachable even as a parent. The principal runs a tight ship and he demands respect from the students. The Great Schools score of 6 doesn't represent the good quality education and positive learning environment at Skyview.

I find it very interesting to see a few parents venting their displeasure for this wonderful school. I guess anytime people feel strong emotional bonds with their families, especially their kids, they act irrationally when it comes to working out the problems they have in the school environment. It is soooo much easier to blame the school for their own inadequecies than it is to point fingers at their own shortcomings. What a shame that people have to sully this schools reputation by badmouthing it here. As a former student, I can most assuredly tell you that there are high expectations for all students both academically and socially. At no time was my family ever solicited for 'pay for grades' fees for extra credit. That is ludacris and the parent who said the teachers don't know how to teach...did you look at how high the test scores are at this school?

I attended Skyview the first two years it was open and had a great experience. I formed great bonds with a handful of the teachers. It baffles me that some parents claim that these teachers don't know what they're doing and/or treat students from lower classes differently. I by no means come from a wealthy family but my parents have always pushed me to be the best student. Former teachers have also contributed to my educational achievements- Skyview teachers included. I feel that their advanced classes were also very adequate. I am now in my junior year at Regis University in Denver. I credit these teachers as well as those PWHS for my academic achievements. I really do not have any bad things to say about the school. My younger brother attends Skyview and I expect him to continue to excel academically.
