5 stars - without question. This school didn’t have the best online PR - the only two articles I read about it were extremely negative (and scared me until I found out all the facts from these stories) - I realize now that my son being placed in this school was a blessing. Previously we were thinking of moving to Narragansett so that he could be in a “good school” but now we are considering staying in this neighborhood BECAUSE of the school, which is ironic.

Asa Messer has great leadership, a collaborative team of teachers, and engaged and striving students. Blended learning is implemented at nearly all grade levels which allows differentiation of student learning and small group, face-to-face time with teachers. Two months into first grade and my daughter is reading at a second grade level along with 5 other students in her class. They are all being challenged through blended learning (and their fantastic teacher!). We are having a wonderful, rich experience at our neighborhood school. Don't believe the myths and negative hype about Providence's public schools. Talk to parents and visit the schools! Sadly the district does NO PR of the positive things happening in our public schools.

This school is awful. They have 2 high sets of stairs that they don't even shovel for the kids and many have fallen and gotten hurt. I know I caught one child falling down them while I was walking back up them. School property should be managed "by the school". Kids parents send them to school very sick and spread their sickness to all others. And the school does nothing and wants them to come in like that. Not to mention head lice and just yesterday found out that my grandsons class has scabies 2 students and at least 1 teacher and the school still wants them to go in and catch it without taking precaution. Kids are at risk of getting hit and so many almost have since the parking is so crazy there. It's horrible someone should really investigate this school. PLEASE!!
