In my experience this school is a very bad school. My brother was bullied often and the teachers and principal did nothing about it. My brother and i felt as though we were being held back. There was a huge disciplinary issue and behavioral issue. Students vape in the bathrooms as well.

Powell Township School is a small school that touched my heart the first time I walked into it. The staff is incredibly friendly, caring and talented. They focus not only on academics, but on the student as a whole developing young person. The building and grounds are set in the heart of Big Bay, near Lake Independence and Lake Superior - truly the heart of the community. The school has it's own tennis courts, ice rink in winter, and playground. It's walking distance to cross country ski trails as well as Lake Independence. Staff and students incorporate outdoor education and fitness into their curriculum daily through their morning mile walk. Art education takes place on an all-day art day for the whole school several times per year. This truly is a special little school where the greatest personal and academic education takes place.

Student teacher ratio is excellent. Students have more opportunities for out of classroom activities as the classes are smaller and manageable. They learn to sail, make maple syrup, sew and garden and many other life skill opportunities. Test scores and teacher dedication are excellent. Many residents volunteers at the school, supporting the neighborhood school concept. It's simply a great school.

This school has a great student to teacher ratio and every kid gets the attention they need. It is the best elementary school in the district. The community in the area is very welcoming and takes a big role in the school. The superintendent of the school lives in the area and has a lot of experience. All of the 2005 graduating class were able to make it to college and are doing well.
