Awful in so many aspects. Communication and follow through with this school is a joke.

Between my two children we have spent a total of six years in West Ridge before we moved away. My oldest child started in 1st grade (which is the first grade available at West Ridge), and stayed there all the way through 5th before entering middle school. My other child spent three years there. Most of our experiences have been good other than getting help for my oldest child. My child needed additional assistance to help them learn but did not receive that and has had large struggles upon starting middle school. Most of the teachers have been great, especially 5th grade teacher Mr. Smulkowski who was the best teacher we've ever had (way better than any teachers I had growing up). He is very open with his kids, and tells them what he expects from them, especially with them going on to middle school. He doesn't put up with stuff and will let the kids know. At the same time he is very helpful, and makes sure that he can do whatever possible to help his kids succeed. He is also very open to talking and meeting with parents to help the kids make the best of school. My kids loved the lunches for the most part (they hated the cheese and ham melts haha!), especially Wednesday's when Domino's delivered pizza. The school has a lot of activities such as cross country, a walk about, an event for the American Heart Association, fundraisers, Triple Play Family Nights, and many more. Overall this has been a great experience, and we have learned a lot from the school and miss our kids attending there.

1st off, The bullying is out of control at this age!The teachers obviously are unable to handle this issue.I am not saying my daughter is perfect, yet she is the one that comes home with bruises. She states they are intentionally kicking her & stepping on her toes as she stands in line. She is the one that gets in trouble, due to the teachers taking the side of the kids that are doing the kicking. My daughter is tired of it & has started to retaliate. If the teachers do not protect her, she feels she needs to protect herself.I have been to the school several times, nothing changes. The kids that my daughter has a problem with, have now gathered their friends. It has now become a gang mentality. My daughter refers to them as the "mean girls club".Kids are committing suicide these days, due to bullying. My daughter feels like it is her against the bullying kids & the staff.

We transitioned our son from a private elementary school to West Ridge in the 2nd grade. We were concerned about how his individual needs would be addressed in a large public school and my concerns were quickly put to rest by the amazing staff at this school. They use positive reinforcement to encourage good behavior. I did receive a few calls from the principal and from the school councilor but they were always very positive and offered a positive even when they were calling with a negative. I even received a few phone calls just to tell me how well he is doing and how much they enjoy him at West Ridge. I could never express how much those phone calls meant to me. Principal Hoffeld, Councilor Trina and Ms. Mayo are absolutely amazing.

I have two children in this school. The staff is caring and compassionate. They have clear expectations of students called R.I.C.H behavior. Respect, Impulse-Control, Caring and Honesty. They reward the students on a regular basis. I love how positive the teachers are. I'm so glad my children are a part of a wonderful education environment.

West Ridge Elementary is an amazing school to work with and for! The staff is truly amazing and cares about the students that attend. They have a very involved PTO that incorporates family friendly activities and support for the entire school. West Ridge has a fun learning environment and helps every student to suceed. I highly recommend West Ridge Elementary School! Go Cougars!!!
