Our daughter has some unique learning gifts and challenges. In areas in which she excels, Swan School teachers lovingly encourage and support her to explore even beyond her comfort zone. She has been allowed to be part of advanced classes, when appropriate, and has built great confidence and self-esteem as a result. In areas in which her learning lags (which happen to be social/emotional), Swan School staff offer her respect, patience, and accountability. This depth of care comes not only from her own teacher, but from the ENTIRE staff at Swan School! She feels genuinely loved and "heard" by adults who model and maintain this compassionate ethos throughout every aspect of school. Students care deeply for each other and strive to honor differences, rather than degrade one another because of differences. I am convinced that our daughter (very sensitive and unabashedly vocal) would be a prime target for bullying in many other school settings. As a family, we have nothing but gratitude for Swan School staff, students, and fellow families who truly value each student, including our daughter.

Swan School is an amazing learning environment and awesome community. I just asked our two daughters what to write and they say "it's a great, great school" and "I love school." We appreciate the care the teachers put in and the balanced calendar is perfect for our family, which travels a lot for work and fun. Overall, one of the best schools I've ever been a part of.

I currently have my third child enrolled at Swan school. She will be in 4th grade and has been enrolled since pre school. My two other children ( 15 and 18) are swan school alumni. As a family we have been involved with Swan school for over 10 years. The biggest compliment I can give Swan school is that all three of my children have different personalities and learning styles yet all three have thrived in this environment. They are compassionate learners who are able to advocate for themselves and feel completely supported in a loving learning environment. I appreciate how involved parents can be in and outside of the classroom community as well as feeling supported as a parent to take an invested role in your child's education. The balanced calendar is such a plus and feels very natural to children's learning rhythm. We LOVE Swan school and would highly recommend it.

I have two daughters enrolled at Swan, in K-1 and pre-K, and they love their school, and love their teachers. We moved from Seattle in part to offer our kids an educational environment that couldn't be had in the city. Here, they are out in the community and hiking in the woods, often, learning about social and environmental science. It's a small school with small class sizes, a strong arts & music program, and a very supportive community.

Swan school has been so great for my daughter. There are three recess periods each day, many great field trips, lots of community interaction, fantastic teachers, art and music, and a top notch curriculum. My daughter has really blossomed at Swan!

I have a great amount of respect and gratitude toward Swan School's wonderful teaching, both in the high quality traditional educational sense, and in the more subtle teaching of values in relation to community, generosity, kindness, and care. My son was recently given $20 spending money from his Grandma. He told me this morning that he wants to bring it to school to put in the jar for "the kids who can't afford to pay for Swan, so they can still be here". He doesn't know he's one of those kids, but he is learning from this wonderful community that everyone, no matter what they have by way of money, is given the chance to be a part, and he is moved to help make this happen. We love you! Thank you for all your good work. -J.

Swan School is a community in and of itself. It is financially accessible to many with its financial aid and scholarship options. For two years the school has made it very affordable for my two students to attend. The school activities are integrated and diverse. For example, the older students mentor the younger students, the choir class walks over to the nearby nursing home and sings to the residents, the school is involved in community volunteer projects. My children love Swan School because of the small class size.

We love Swan School! My daughter has been there for four years. Russ Yates is a great teacher and director. All her teachers have been excellent. She is doing well academically and emotionally. She looks forward to school, and enjoys learning. Don't be discouraged if it seems expensive. There are scholarships and financial programs. And the cost is consistent with similar schools. Great program, excellent long-term vision, it will just get better and better.
