Your kids will stagnant if you send them to this school with its "just do the minimum" from the subpar Illinois curriculum. If you want to just meet the minimum required standards, this is your place. Our child for her first year here did not learn one thing new, and now after a few years they are finally teaching things that she hadn't previously learned. The superintendent Josh Temple definitely has little control over the staff and it seems people just do what they want. Example a few years ago he did not manage the school maintenance staff and they just let most of the grounds go unmowed the entire summer. 4' tall prairie is what they had the week school was to start and they asked the community to bail them out. Not even going to mention the mask mandates and snow days with no snow. Definitely if you have to move to this area go across the river to Iowa with Pleasant Valley or if you have to stay in Illinois make sure you live in Geneseo school district. You will be much happier with children's education.

I graduated from Riverdale and knew I wanted my own children to attend. The school was quick to realize my child was behind his peers and jumped into action. He received so much help and is now right where he should be. The staff has always been wonderful. Both my children love Riverdale and look forward to school each day.

Honestly this is the best school in the Quad city area. My daughter has went to four different Schools (in the quad cities),and Riverdale is by far the best! Wonderful teachers and education staff ! We are blessed to be apart of this school district!

Our family's experience at this school was the worst. Their "rewards based" discipline system is just a poor classroom management tool that transforms your child into a little programmed robot, or punishes the good children for the behavior of the bad children. I wonder how many thousands of $ this discipline program cost the school; yet they're constantly begging for money because they can't afford to buy text books for our children. If the children do earn a reward, it's junk food (candy, chocolate, sugar.) The children quickly learn (this is the robot part) NOT to think for themselves, NOT to explore different ways of solving challenges, and NOT to "think outside the box." Instead, they'll say and think and do only what the teacher considers acceptable so they can earn a reward. The nurse was completely ignorant and disorganized and tried to cover herself when she messed up BIG TIME. The principal has no interest in truly listening to concerns. He will dismiss your concerns by telling you "that's the way we've always done it," or show you their school policy for how something is supposed to be handled, but it's not at all a policy that the school actually follows. They do as they please. If you are one of the "in crowd," you're children will be treated well. If you are new to the school, or not considered "one of the important families," then I hope that your children are never in a situation that requires an administrator or staff member to intervene on behalf of your child; because it WON'T happen. With so many other wonderful, progressive school choices on the IA side, I would encourage anyone moving to the area to consider those options. If you purchase a home in this school district, there is no open enrollment, no opportunity to transfer to another school and you'll be trapped in this backwards district with the hillbilly mentality.

We are a military family and are new to the area. This school is excellent! As a new student entering the 5th grade, my son cannot wait to go to school everyday. He is progressing in his education as his teacher uses innovative ways to keep the class interested and looking forward to learning new concepts. The teachers, administrative staff and even the principal meet me at the door with a smile and positive energy. It is obvious that they absolutely love the kids and we hope to stay at Riverdale for years to come.

Riverdale is such a wonderful school. My daughter has shown a huge change in her self confidence. She is very shy and was having problems learning. Because of the wonderful staff she is comming out of her shell and has been improving in every aspect possiable. I don't think the staff has realized how much they have actually impacted her life. I can't thank them enough.
