This school has been great for my son. When we moved, I worried about the small size of the school but it has been an amazing plus for my kid. He has been able to form relationships with staff, and students that he could not at our larger former district. He has so many options to participate in sports and clubs afterschool with out competing with large groups for a spot. The school feels like an extension of the community, and we are so glad we chose a small town school district where my kid was embraced! I hope this school stays small because there are just so many pros to this type of learning environment for so many of the kids in town! Great school, teachers, and student body!

Pitman schools were good in the 1970's. Lots of townies seem to think today is still 1976. The schools today are a bit run down, especially PHS. The teachers are not as talented. Students do not perform well on standardized tests. Ask yourself this. How can a homogeneous town like Pitman which is largely upper middle class with few reduced lunches do so poorly on the state tests? Who knows? It's embarrassing. PHS should be closed and our kids bused to Clearview.

Lovely small school where personalized attention makes all the difference. It's a community school where everyone knows each other. The small size allows students to get to know their teachers, administrators, and bond with classmates. Kids walk and bike to school. We are very happy to not be at a large school.

This is one of the worst high schools around. Horrible teachers, administration, curriculum and students - switched mine to GCIT.

I am a current student. The teachers are great! They are challenging, fair and caring. The computers are always breaking down though and the computer techs are no where to be found. Great school, but cannot afford good technology or get good people to fix computers. Other than that, I love everything about this place.

i graduated from PHS in 1972. my parents chose to live in pitman because of the high quality of the schools. at the time, the teacher-student ratio was about 20-1. most of the teachers had masters degrees. advanced placement classes were plentiful. the total enrollment for the high school was about 550 students. no school buses, ever! i'm grateful that i received a very high quality public school education. the teachers knew their stuff and there was a very fair sense of discipline in the school. teachers tolerated student BS up to a point, but if someone "crossed the line," they were dealt with appropriately. i don't have children, but back then, i knew better than to get into trouble at school. i trust this information, though dated, proves helpful.
