It is a giant baby sitting place.95% of the kids are operating at below grade level and the school has no effective ways to help struggling learners. Most of the students can not read or write appropriately , students use electronics, iPads, cell phone all the time even when the instruction is being given. School management has no effective policy to manage students. Administration has very casual approach towards discipline and this school is not getting students ready for college and career.

This school has poor leadership. Three assaults on three different teachers in the last one year. Administration does not support teachers, a close group of people runs the school , not open for suggestions , or for review of existing policies. Students does not carry text book / study materials to home, they do not turn in home work. Most of the teachers does not give home work because most of them does not even try at home. On the basis of recent assessments 99% of the students cannot pass the PARCC assessment.95 % of the students can not read at grade level, cannot effectively write, read and communicate. Administration is not at all supportive unless you are very close to them / or part of their team. 60 % of the staff left the district this school year alone. If you are a passionate teacher you will definitely be frustrated after working here for a while.

I giving PHS a five star school. Many people don't know exactly how advanced PHS is until you step into the actual classroom. I've observed my son's class where they were working diligently on project based powerpoint. They were using high ordering thinking and college level vocabulary into their report writing and above all they presented very professional. These students are very outspoken an poised when presenting their projects which was integrated with common core standards. I could only say those who rated our school low need to step into your child's classroom. And watch our students present outstanding projects.

Pinon High School offers the best education to the community. Teachers work hard to address student's needs and learning style. The staff has a lot of professional development opportunities .Staff is very friendly , caring and genuine.
