Pike Road used to be a decent school, however they now have a superintendent and admin team that no longer measure up to ones from the past. The principal is virtually invisible most school days and some students do not even know what she looks like. Rules are put in place, and implemented arbitrarily based on favoritism. Great teachers are fired and replaced by incompetent ones so they can pay them less, while average teachers including ones that have been accused of racism and routinely call students stupid are kept. There is no real school spirit or culture at the school and little has been done to create any. The school itself is in very bad shape, rooms are falling apart, janitors aren't hired so garbage litters the hallways and rooms routinely. Multiple rooms routinely have no ac or heat and it often takes days for the problems to be fixed. The principal herself would much rather walk around on her cell phone and delegate tasks to others so that she does not have to take the blame for things go wrong. When she is approached, she is a very cold, rude person. The vice principals are useless and walk around pretending to be busy, or yelling at students. Since the intro of the new admin team, there are multiple fights every year, when before there has been very few. Students vape and fight in the bathrooms and nothing is done about it. The bathrooms themselves are generally disgusting. There was blood on the walls of one for days before it was cleaned this year. The admin and superintendent preach family and caring, but fire great teachers without warning on the very last day of the year for no reason. They have multiple teachers every year quit before the year is over because they do not receive support. Black students are often targeted by the admin and certain teachers, which the students openly discuss and know about, yet nothing is done about it. Special education students are routinely bullied and nothing is done about it. I would have recommended this school before the new admin and superintendent, but can no longer do so, which is a shame because it began as a truly special place.

Pike Road High School is nothing more than a glorified public school system. This campus in particular is a revolving door of administrators and teachers. The school doesn't retain the great teachers and manages to find inexperienced and unqualified replacements every year. Teachers are put in positions to teach subjects they don't know, and there is absolutely no consistency regarding the academic curriculum. The administration is more concerned with numbers and school rank than with student learning and success. This school settled for the appearance of great, when it had potential to actually be great.

I usually never type comments on anything, however, I believe that this school deserves 5 stars. Currently, I am a high schooler who is attending this school and although people comment that the teachers don't teach or that they struggle with their classes, it isn't hard to discuss that with an academic counselor about this issue. When I first came to this school, I changed 3 of my teachers because I was unhappy with them. However, now my grades are above 95 and I love every single one of my teachers as they all try their best. This school also has a monitoring program where the staff is able to check your screen from a specific website called "Hapara." This leads the learners not to get distracted from their works as the teacher is able to close the student's unnecessary tabs on from their laptops.

We are new to the district this year, with a child at each of the Pike Road Schools. With such wonderful experiences so far with the younger kiddos, this school has fallen flat. 1) There is a serious lack of communication from the school. There are no newsletters, communications, etc. You need to follow a PTSA group to have an idea on what is going on in the building.2) Lunches are OBSCENELY expensive as they do not participate in the National school lunch program. Ex: your child may spend four dollars on a single sandwich with no side or drink, so by the time they add on some fruit and a water is may be an $8 dollar meal.3) We have heard from our child over and over again that they are not learning from staff, but self teaching on a laptop. We see lots of homework though, so I am unsure what is truth or just a teenager speaking? 4) Football rules everything and players are without reproach. No standards are held for them concerning grades, vaping, teen pregnancies….etc. Why is it that we needed a 1 mil dollar football field that looks better than the school? There are also many rumors to the school recruiting players from out of district to play. No one can actually prove this though. The band is amazing! Five stars for the band program and director!

This school provides a refuge to poor white families fleeing the integrated schools of Montgomery County, but the school provides little in the form of education. I suppose it does an adequate job preparing the students for their careers in landscaping and retail sales. I rated the teacher's effectiveness as low, but that is more a reflection on the Pike Road philosophy of online learning than on the teachers themselves. If you want to homeschool your children without the effort, then PRHS is the place for you. Your child will have to walk a gauntlet daily through the Christian indoctrination clubs barring entrance to the buildings. In fact, one of the PRHS buildings doubles as a Christian church on Sundays. Once inside the buildings, as for learning, your child is on their own. Your child will learn or not learn by watching online videos of people teaching. Please do not expect your child's teacher to actually have lessons plans or to teach because that is beyond the scope of their employment. Your child will be a straight "A" student, or at worst, and "AB" student. Your child will be able to take the exams (which PRHS refers to as assessments) as many times as they want until they achieve a grade that they like. These assessments are online multiple choice tests, and eventually, even the dumbest child will memorize enough of the correct letters to pass with an A or a B grade. The majority of your child's grade is dependent on a group project each grading period. So if you have a smart child, congratulations, your child will be caring their classmates, and if you have a dumb child, congratulations, you child gets a free ride. Heaven forbid you have finances meeting federal guidelines for reduced or free lunches for your child at school. PRS does not participate in federal lunch programs so your child will either need to bring lunch daily or pay full price despite your limited financial resources.
