I have 3 kids In the school. For the most part the school ive always thought the a school was okay not super excellent just okay. My older son was struggling in math and he would go in a small group for help but even that didn’t really do much, because he would still struggle. His grade was up and down up and down. They didn’t really do much to make it stay up. Not all of it on the school because he was some what of a rusher so I won’t put all the blame on the teachers. My son has also experienced some racism which really gave me a bad taste mind u he has been at school since 1st grade so for this to happen in grade 6 just upset me so much. The principle at the time handled the situation but maybe not to the best of her ability in my opinion. There is now a new principle so I’m hopeful that things might be better!

My child does not go to the school, but my child has had complaints about the Math Honors teacher, because she has online classes with the Math Honors Teacher. She claims that the Math honors teacher isn't really good at teaching. She also claims that the teacher adds problems that the kids don't understand. Also Math Honors Teacher yells a lot at the kids.

I used to go to this school for 6 years and it was a horrible experience. As a person of color, I felt VERY left out. I was often told racist things by students and not backed up by the teachers. I don’t blame my classmates cause we were kids but the teachers have to do better. This school also brought out the worst in me and I never felt like I belonged there. Just a heads up, they take you in even if you are not catholic but they will exclude you from basically everything. Don’t even get me started on the principle.

The worst catholic elementary school in northeast Philadelphia, don’t send your children there . Please look for more options the principal is really mean with the children.

Don't send your child here because the teachers get tougher on students as they progress through the grades; in one grade, a teacher ripped our tests because the class did "HoRRibLE." The only special education is math and ela. The majority of the students are not the "brightest," and almost all of the teachers' teaching styles are traditional.

As a former student who attended this school,my memory was not a happy nor a good one. More like cash grabbing and ignorance to me. After school, there was a lot of math homework and most of the time, they don't really talk about your mistakes and never make small groups to help the students who are trying and struggling. The teachers here weren't really helpful to me since most of my understanding was from my mother. My home room teacher never cares about others feelings and it always makes me feel like I should hide it from her.The teacher I hate most was the gym teacher.Most of the time, he just makes us do the same repetitive things:doing three laps. Also he gives out strict rules of not passing each other during laps but when a student does that he seems to not care. For building strong character into students...they did okay? I came out of the school as a decent person and many others too but some classmates I had stayed the same:ignorant and mischievous. When I moved into this school, I've never learned about cursive writing so tackling when I was just in 3rd grade with no one helping was sad. I've asked for help,several times, but my homeroom teacher only kept congratulating the students who do well which sucks. But the only one thing they do well besides getting money is getting rid of bullying in the school. But still, I'd rather have you went to a school with more positives than negatives than Maternity BVM.

Excellent school. Staff is accommodating, energetic, helps students, parents can relax at hone thinking that their child is in good hands ay school. Mrs. Zawisza ( principal) is very supportive.

My husband & I are not happy at all with this school. It starts w/ a principal who will never admit when a teacher isn't doing a good job & who has a reputation for playing favorites. The teachers (especially math) do not know how to explain concepts & are unapproachable & dont know how to 'bring kids in' when they are struggling to help them do better. Also, alot of parents at this school complain that the teachers give out so many failure notices. Even for kids who are trying! That isn't good for these young students self-confidence.

One of my daughter graduated from this school and my second daughter is in 7th grade right now. In the beginning of our journey as a parents sending kids to a catholic school it was great because we didn't know any better. As years and years of sending my kids here it becomes a nightmare. The tuition is cheap compare to other schools but all other miscellaneous expenses that did not mention is outrageous. Carnival ticket each family is mandatory to sell tickets worth $250 if not you ended up paying it yourself. Script program that should be the parents choice if they want to join or not but at BVM is mandatory also or else they will add $200 extra on your tuition. There alone your almost $3000 and that is not as cheap as other school. The sports in this school is also a joke, you pay to join and that's ok but the problem is the coaches are one of the parents, so what you think happens? There kids are the only one play while the other players that pay same amount and practice same time as their kids never get the chance to enjoy the game. Yes, that is based on our experience and when we complain the school brushed it off. My son will be a kindergarten and he is going to a different school it might be a little higher but at least they are honest and no hidden charges while your in. Carnival ticket 8s not mandatory and either is the script program. They are not money hunger like BVM tuition has to be paid by May and previous school year is not even over yet. The school my son will go to August 25th that's like a week before school year starts and not like 3 months in advance. Also if you are not a kind of parents that will be helping the school for free your kids will not be chosen for any activities in school. If I were you pick other school besides BVM, but if you dont have a choice good luck and don't say no one warns you.

Maternity BVM is the best thing that has ever happened to me. The teachers and faculty are always so nice to all students and parents. The students are always welcoming and supportive of new people that join our school community. I’ve always thought of BVM as a home and have loved all my time there. I’ve attended for 10 years now and loved every minute of it. BVM encourages kids to be the change and lead instead of follow I think BVM in an amazing school for all people

It took us 5 years to accept the fact that this “Catholic” school is a hypocritical joke. They preach Catholic tenants to our children and turn around and do the exact opposite. I’m pretty disgusted by the leadership and no longer feel comfortable sending my child to this “institution.” Their highest priority is money... your tuition. The second priority is how they will get money. And their third priority is when they will get money. Somewhere down the line is the education and wellbeing of your child... perhaps the tenth or eleventh priority. Coming from a school that profits a quarter of a million dollars from their annual carnival (that has recently been wrought with violent attacks on attending/parish families that have seemed to go unnoticed, unacknowledged and unaddressed or perhaps completely ignored by the school), you’d almost consider this establishment a for-profit business first, and a school second.They boast a low tuition rate but fail to mention a few extra provisions and expenses casually added to the tuition at the parents expense until you are saddled in. It’s almost predatory. If you can afford tuition at another, more honest, school that actually practices what they preach to your children, I’d highly recommend doing so.

Maternity BVM is a catholic grade school that involves the faith and academic aspect. As a current 8th grade student who attended this school for 10 years, I have made so many wonderful memories and will continue to cherish them. Although the school may not fully challenge you academically, it does NOT tolerate any form of bullying and disrespect. The pastor here is very understanding and kind, as he teaches us Theology Class in our 8th grade year. Although the principal does have an bad attitude issue, Mrs. Z will treat you with respect and listen to your perspective. Throughout my 10 years here, I have grown and developed so much in my skills that I specially credit my teachers and friends for supporting me so much. In 7th grade, I won a high-school sponsored essay contest from my school and was chosen to present it in front of an audience. A negative side about this school would be that some teachers have attitudes but are quickly fired. All in all, sending your child here will truly be a success and blessing if you really want them to become deep-rooted Catholics.

Maternity B.V.M school is a great place to learn! I am a fellow student from here and can tell you that the teachers are dedicated workers. They will any child who is struggling or doesn't fully understand the lesson. Also there is 0 tolerance for bullying, disrespect etc here at B.V.M. The teachers are very kind and are truly trying to help myself, and my classmates suceed. For any parents who are looking to send their children to Maternity B.V.M, I can tell you that is it is a great place!

I have two sons in this school my husband and I are also alumni of this school. I can say that yes you have good teacher/bad teachers, but what school doesn't. The good ones you can e-mail anytime and they will take the time to help your son/daughter. The bad teachers they won't be there next year or maybe not even finish the year out. They have a 0 tolerance for bullying, they have a guidance office to help the students with issues. The principal, Mrs. Z. yes can have an attitude and have her favorites, but you have to trust that she knows what she is doing. You do not have to agree with her, and she will listen to your point of view. Once your child does one thing wrong she will keep a close eye on him/her the whole time they are there. Father Q. GREAT pastor will work with you and is not concerned with money, in fact his family donated money to BVM to help out with repairs. I like this school and would recommend it to any new parent. Good schools are hard to find and this is definitely a good school. Lots of sports and involvement if that is what you are looking for. You can sit and watch or be involved in everything
