The teachers and staff are excellent, they are helpful and willing to go the extra mile. The new principal is young, inexperienced and lacks the understanding to be a leader.

My 7 year old twin daughters both attend Penn Yan Elementary School this year, and I have been absolutely thrilled with the involvement both the teachers and staff have displayed. My one daughter has had some difficulty with ADHD and her teacher, Mrs. Francisco has been AMAZING. She emails almost daily, reports to me any concerns immediately, has worked with the doctor to get the right medications, has provided valuable tools in and outside of the class room (safety nets) to promote my daughter's success. The compassion and professionalism displayed in this situation has been a blessing in my life and in my daughter's life. Whenever there have been any problems, the entire school has facilitated an effective and immediate course of action to resolve the issue. I have no reservations in recommending this school to other parents.

Thus far, the teachers my child has had ranged from good, to outstanding. There is a very active Parent Teacher Group that has regular activities for the children. The current principal, who is retiring this year, seems nice enough. He is always there at Open House and comes out to most of the children's concerts. One weakness I have seen is a glaring lack of diversity in the school's staff and a lack of support for diversity among the children (no support for ESL learners or their parents).
