I have been in education for 30 plus years and a teacher at Riverside Middle for more than 20 years. I have taught at the elementary, middle and high school levels and without a doubt, RMS is the best school I have ever been a part of. All students are given multiple opportunities to learn and be successful with a lot of extra help through the Edge program in the mornings and afternoons, dine in, etc. There is not an individual in that school that would not go the extra mile for any student there. Riverside always has something going on for the students that reward their positive behavior and academic success. As far as the faculty, staff and administration, everyone is very supportive. I have never worked anywhere in which everyone treats each other like family. I will continue to say that Riverside Middle School is the BEST middle school in the state and there's no other school that I would rather be at - GO BULLDOGS!!!!

Riverside is a unique school where students genuinely want to be there. The motto is "Work hard, play hard" and they do! Teachers want to be there and students are showing amazing growth on the SC School Report Card.

In my short time at RMS I've had the pleasure of being welcomed by staff, teachers, and students alike. The school really strives to interact as "One School One Heartbeat" and it shows in the day to day. There isn't a normal week at RMS because there is some event, activity, or special learning project almost everyday, keeping the kids engaged and excited. Without a doubt the Special Education team is the best in the state if not the country, I love watching students be empowered for what and how they can do things rather than what they may have trouble with.As a parent I wouldn't hesitate in the slightest to enroll my kids at RMS because I know they would learn, grow, and thrive there as they grow into young adults.

Riverside does a wonderful job of keeping students engaged both in and out of the classroom, students truly want to be here and being part of the Riverside "Work Hard, Play Hard" culture highlights their Anderson 4 experience. This school does so many unique things that you don't find at any other school starting with the whole school starting the day off with a morning meeting in the gym, inflatables at block parties, slime runs, dodgeball tournaments, stud muffin volleyball/powder puff football, daily recess, Veteran's Day and Black History month assemblies, food trucks each month for the employees, and the list goes on and on. The school itself has many nationally board certified teachers, and has won countless awards. It's truly a magical place that bonds the community and public education system together as one.

Everyone at this school is welcome and invited. There are aspects at this school that incentivize students to succeed and want to do well. These include block parties, slime runs, behavior incentives, state testing crush parties and the list goes on and on. On top of that, they will hopefully soon have a therapy dog which every student will be able to work with. This school is unlike any other and any parent should want their children to be a part of Riverside.

The faculty and staff at this school go above and beyond expectations to try to create hands-on learning experiences for students every day. There are countless examples--Ag & Arts Day, Farm City Day, Frog Week, Gingerbread House Day, Egg Day, just to name a few examples. This is a special place where the team truly makes it their mission to believe in the students enough to hold them to high expectations and to balance student engagement with academic excellence so that students want to be at school today and will be prepared for tomorrow.

The teachers at this school need to teach. They post self learning assignments on these chromebooks and expect the child to self teach. The teachers need yo learn their place. They're not there to be besties with the students. They should not discuss a student issue with other students or discuss student problems aloud with other teachers when students are around. This school needs a staff review starting at the top with the principal.

I had a horrible experience here. Kids vape there constantly, one kid was actually caught smoking cigarettes in the bathroom and only got in-school suspension. Bullying is NOT dealt with. Teachers pile work on students and don’t even teach. I remember a kid who transferred from Starr-Iva getting chewed out by a teacher for not being able to work Schoology. You had to work extremely hard just to get B’s and C’s. Overall this is an awful school and I do NOT recommend it.
