My son is in that 5% of black students, and we can't wait to pull him out of this school. The staff also undermine my wife, and sometimes don't speak or speak with dismissive attitude towards her. The teacher recommend keeping my son back in the first grade, and other brown/black kids get recommended the same. This is not a good school for black/brown and/or minority kids. The front desk lady is very rude to my wife and my son teacher does not care for son like she say she did. We are in 2024 & we still have to deal with this type of racism and discrimination. Thumbs Down!

Pretty cool, I liked it. It wasn't amazing but it worked.

Good academics. Good for the abled. Wonderful for the severely disabled. Unfortunately, there is no box to check for children that are in the margins between ability and disability. Federal funding requires the children to be placed in a category. The child is then treated as the category, not as an individual. Whether or not the child belongs in the assigned category or even matches the category definitions is apparently not the problem of the school. This is the first year (it is now 2015) since 2005 I have not had to verbally wrestle with the administration regarding the behaviors or assigned category(ies) of my child(ren).

I have 2 boys with Down syndrome and I must say I absolutely love the Life Skills program at this school! The teachers and aides are amazing. I was pregnant last school year and they came and got my son from my car and brought him to my car every day. The teachers worked very well with my son and he made huge progress. The teacher did a Differently Abled week after a student made fun of my son. They really care about their kids.

My child is in Shadycrest for the BSI program. It's a joke. The teacher sare not well trained on the laws with Sped Ed and tend treat the children with lack of any compassion. If you have a Sped Ed child I would not recommend this school. If they spent more time observing the children and less time socializing with the PTA moms itnwould be a big improvement .
