My son started here in kindergarten and is currently a first grader. This is an absolutely incredible elementary school with staff that truly care about students and engagement with families. I wish my elementary school were even half this good! The principal and teachers we have had so far are incredibly engaged and communicate weekly in a way I would never have expected from a public school. Highly recommend!

Horrible. Don’t waste your time. Principal doesn’t have the skills needed to run the school. Budget is poorly managed. Kids haven’t received any supplies during the pandemic, except for a math book and a folder with lined paper. Last year she made teachers throw away math text books instead of making the teachers distribute them so that kids could work from home during the pandemic. She’s clueless.

We had some challenges and successes at this school. Like everything in education at the end of the day it is the relationship between the student and teacher that makes the difference. Overall the teachers in this school are fair to incompentent. Sprinkled in each grade are gems of teachers who know how to have a growth mindset and nurture learning in different types of learners. But overall very average teachers. Unfortunately some teachers who should be retired but continue to proliferate at the school. Many of these teachers are passive aggressive: they will complain about a non traditional learner because they only teach to the middle. They will put the responsiblity on the stressed parents and wash their hands and ownership of their job of being a Teacher. Some teachers have been rude and inappropriate with the children and unfortunately the Principal was either too busy or overwhelmed to properly supervise them. It is a shame because a school like this in a wealthy town should bring more supports to both students and families in the educational process.

I love the school. The treatment that the children receive is excellent. The staff and the teachers are very nice and profesional. It is the most secure school in the city. The staff is all trained. The children learn how important is the diversity.

Academically, this school is very good compared to other schools in Broward County. The problem with this school is communication between parents, teachers and administration since they take a long time to respond to your calls, voice messages, or emails. If you have a good teacher your kid will have a great year, but if not your concerns will be put on a long waiting list.

I'm very happy for all the great reviews this school has received. Just I wish I feel the same. There are good and bad experiences in life. The principal is a very nice guy. He is a problem solver. However, we haven't found a solution to the problem with our child and it's difficult to get in touch with the Principal. The main problem we have with the school is the communication. They don't respond to your emails or phone calls. It is very difficult to talk to the Principal. My kid was bullied and the teacher didn't seem to understand and handle the situation. We wanted to work with her, but she doesn't seem to care. I know this might sound a contradiction, but the school is good. We happened to have a teacher who mistreats our kid and that feels horrible. I want to believe that she means good or she doesn't really know the damaged she has caused to our child. We really want to think better about this school. We are usually pretty involved on our children education. This year we have felt shut down. We are just taking this experience as a learning process. If it happened to our child it could happen to anybody's kid. It won't be the first or the last time. Instead of playing victim we have chosen to be survivors. Reviews help to choose a school, but experiences dictate the reality. Each experience is unique. Please don't feel discouraged by this review cause your experience might be different than mine.

Some people are rating this school poorly because of a district boundary issue. The boundary is set by the district and has nothing to do with the school or the school staff. Heron Heights is a wonderful school!

I have nothing but love for Heron Heights. The parents are extremely involved and the teachers. My daughter's 4th grade teacher recorded lessons for her to watch later on. Who does that?

My son and daughter are currently attending this school and we all love it!!! They've had great teachers who have always been there to answer any questions or concerns. The administration is great and has never hesitated to assist us when needed. The front office ladies are always very friendly and helpful. One of the reasons we moved to Parkland was because of the school and we are happy that we did.

This school is closed out, it is no longer open to students. We moved to Parkland within district in December and we are not allowed to send our child to the school. We spent a fortune to live in Parkland just for the schools. Now we have to send our child to a neighboring B rated school. The rapid population growth of Parkland is putting amazing stress on it's schools. The test scores for Heron Heights has been in rapid decline since it opened. Great Schools shows the class size as nice and small but it's actually 22-24 students per class.

I am VERY disappointed with this school! People think that just because you are in Parkland the schools are so much better , this school is no different than the rest of this community it has a flashy exterior with no real substance. Honestly, the curriculum is the same all over the county. I have not been happy with the teachers and the treatment I have received thus far from them and the staff. I have had real concerns about my child and the last thing I want in return is avoidance or defensiveness. I couldn't agree more with some of the other not so nice comments on this site. The Principle is untouchable; serious concerns brought up to higher level staff regarding teachers etc, is treated again with defensiveness and excuses. In Broward we pay a lot for taxes and our dollars are really put to poor use. Our kids deserve better!!

I would give this school zero stars if that were an option. We bought a house in Parkland with the understanding that the area has excellent schools. However, they fail to inform you that the school is only excellent for those "gifted" children. If your child has any type of disability or learning difference for example, learning disabilities, ADHD, mild autism spectrum, CP, speech-language etc the school does not have the ability to teach children with learning differences nor do they want to. I provided them ample time to educate my child and he has regressed educationally under their care. I would advise strongly not to buy a home in this area. If you are going to spend 800K plus on a home, go to Boca and send your child to private school.
